I'm trying to move our vms from one cluster to another but the built in remote site don't work so now I'm trying to manually move the vmdisk files to the other cluster but the NFS connection stops working after a while. I have tried to mount the NFS share in a ESXi server but the transfer errors out after a while. Now I'm trying to use qemu-img to convert the vmdisk and move it, but it fails with : qemu-img convert nfs://127.0.0.1/default-container-49239103706845/.acropolis/vmdisk/81cd6231-e421-441c-850c-9124adf565d0 -O qcow2 ./dns-export.qcow2 & NFS Error: NFS: Read failed with NFS3ERR_JUKEBOX(-11) qemu-img: error while reading sector 4202495: Resource temporarily unavailable Is there any logs that will tell me what is happening with the NFS connection?
Long shot i know, but i’m wondering if anyone every solved the issue of VSS backups failing after June 2022 Update on Hyper-V 2012 R2 hosts. Veeam has this KB Article that references a workaround/fix: https://www.veeam.com/kb4333However, it’s not at all clear how i would make a domain account an administrator/backup operator on the File Server that hosts the SMB3.0 share (the cvm..)
Hi I am new to the Nutanix and want to know clarity on below query. Please any body help me on below query,we have a five Nutanix node cluster and out of five node cluster three of them G5-Nodes which warranty will be completed on 31-oct-2023. reset of two nodes G8-nodes which we were added recently to the cluster. Now we are planning to remove the three G5-Nodes from the cluster and if we remove three G5-nodes,two nodes will be there and it become a two nodes cluster.if it is a two node cluster there no witness vm for redundancy. Now My Questions are below like. 1. Is there any possibility of removing 3 nodes from the existing cluster? A. Removing the 3 (G5) Node from the existing RF2 cluster is not possible. (2Node Cluster and RF2 based cluster are designed for different Infra) B. RF2 to 2 node cluster is not supported by Nutanix engineering Team. 2. What will happen after the License expires? A. Replacement of h
HelloI am interested in the possibility to get a VM memory dump for further analysis (list of processes, sockets, other artifacts). How to do it if using the KVM hypervisor (Acropolis).I need to create a dump on a running VM for analysis. A detailed description of the procedure is required. If I understand correctly, all VMs in Nutanix are kept in the form of files, which files are VM dump files? Оr does Nutanix have a special procedure for creating and downloading a complete dummy file(s) of a virtual machine?OS doesn't matter, it can be anything. Please tell me the information to understand this issue.
Hey Team,I need a little bit of assistance here. I am new to Nutanix and currently attempting to deploy the community edition for some testing. However, I’ve been following several different guides out there and not having much luck.Installing on VM using ESXi 7.0 (VM version 17). I created new VM w/ Centos 7 compatibility and loaded the ISO.ISO was downloaded from here:https://next.nutanix.com/discussion-forum-14/download-community-edition-38417And md5sum matches. The ISO loads and boots up. I then go through the CLI UI installation and get past to the last screen where it should start installing but then get an error that I need help troubleshooting:Last Screen:Then the Error right after the previous screenshot:Looking at the error, there is reference to minimum requirements but I’m pretty sure I meet them on this VM but if this is what it is, then I can look at a newer beefier server to test on:8CPUs24GB of MemorySata1 20GbsSata2 50GbsSate3 50GbsAnyone seen this error before? Hello,I'm working on building a Debian 12 image for Nutanix, but I found it difficult to start the automatic Debian installation process (DebianInstaller). Unlike other virtualizers that I have worked with so far, Nutanix does not have the "boot_command" parameter to start the self-installation process. Is there any documentation or tutorial on how to proceed in this case? Thanks for any guidance.
Dear Expert, My Nutanix environment as per below: 4block of Nutanix ( 8 Node ) connect to Nexus Access Switch with 10G SPF cable. Hypervisor: VMware 5.5 Issue: from vCenter we detect the host keep disconnected randomly. and vCenter become HANG Workaround: Ping continuously on Host. Result No packet drop can you please advise what need to do Regards, Hamballi
I've had an intermittant problem with some 2012 VMs I had migrated that have been locking up after a random time, usually going to 100% CPU and all IO stops. VM Console is unresponsive and network not reachable, reset is only solution to bring back online. It would then run again for a number of minutes, hours, even a day or more only to do same thing again at a random time through day or night, so was no logical patten to it. I endup tracking it down to a timezone config issue, when rebooting the VMs in question the timezone would set their clock to the hypervisior host time, which was in a different timezone (default TZ nodes were shipped with) to the the host VM TZ. I had a similar problem in the past, although not with the host lockups, where a number of hosts would lose time sync and be out by the TZ difference between host and VM on our Citrix XenServer Cluster hypervisor host. Because our VM are on an AD domain they will be out of NTP adjustment range becasue time differen
Hi all, My present client is making me working on a design implying to deploy a XAAS plateform with a lot of security inside (NSX is on the cook list). In our team, i was declared as the nutanix man. My mission is to determine the best way to isolate storage from diffrent workload :

we'll have an integration zone, a developpement and a production zone as PAAS.
Some node will executed heavy VDI (K2 graphic cards will achieve this),
Then we'll have a IAAS with vcloud SP for the sandbox zone).
So we can imagine some sort of multicluster with 3 cluster dedicated to 3 zones : 3D VDI zone / SANDBOX IAAS zone / and PAAS zone. It implies at least 9 nodes which is a bit too much for starting plateform. My question is, can I make a 6 node cluster for nutanix / storage point, with 3 volumes pools on all 6 node ? and more than that what will it implies in terms of storage performance, data protection, data seggregation (security team will challenge me heavily on
Hi, On a new install (nx6020) ; during a Storage vMotion, the ESXi CPU increases up to +80% of the total physical CPU ...The Storage vMotion is very long ... A vMotion is ok, no problem, very fast. Any idea ? Info : - Cluster version v188.8.131.52 - RAM CVMs : 32GB I think that there is not enough RAM on CVMs ?... 32GB its a best practices. thks guys ! Sig'
Hi, we have the need for nested shares on our fileserver. While this was easy on NetApp Filer it seems impossible with Nutanix AFS, or I am missing something. We are currently on latest GA release AFS 2.0.2. with AOS 5.0.2 on ESXi 6.0U2. Is this on the roadmap or even possible with AFS 2.1? Replacing Fileservers (Windows or NetApp, doesnt matter) could only be done with full feature set. best regards Steffen
Has anyone successfully been able to get HyperV(or ESXi) nested under AHV? I do see nested KVM VM's are supported but no mention of anything else. Only reason for exploring this is to get Cisco Umbrella VA's working under AHV so i don't have to re-purpose an old server to run HyperV/ESXi.
How do Persistent Reservations work with Hyper-V on Nutanix?

I'm asking because with our other "Hyper-V with SMB Storage" clusters, you are not able to use Hyper-V manager on HOST1 to modify VHDs that belong to a VM running on HOST2, as you would expect - Error reads: "Access Denied". However, with Nutanix, we are able to do this and it leads to VHD corrouption upon next reboot of the VM
Here is the scenario:

Hosts: 5 node Nutanix cluster with Hyper-V (Dell XC hardware)
VM1 is running on HOST1
Using HOST2, launch Hyper-V manager (not Failover Cluster Manager). Edit Disk to resize a VHD of VM1. Resize successful (This fails in our non-Nutanix clusters)
Using HOST2, check the properties of VM1’s VHD and you will notice that the file size has changed
Using HOST1 (where the VM is running), check the properties of the VHD and you will notice that the file size HAS NOT changed
Reboot VM1, server will not boot –
Hi all, We have a 3x node Dell XC630-10 Cluster running on AOS184.108.40.206 - Starter License. These nodes are running a Dell Customised 5.5U2 VMware image. I want to upgrade these nodes to a Dell 5.5U3-A04 image build 3248547. This will have to be done manually as we do not have DRS running (Standard VMware license). On top of the image I want to patch them to "Patch 8" level - release date - 04/AUG/2016 (Patch 9 available now). However reading the Hypervisor FAQ it seems that major/minor vSphere releases are supported and QA certified within 90 days of GA. Therefore my question is: After applying the Dell 5.5U3 Custom image then, in theory, I can only apply Express Patch 10 build 3568722- 22/Feb/2016? Comments are much appreciated.
