Failed to Reimage and with Foundation 3.3 NOS 4.7.1

Hai nutanix team, I used to reimaging using Foundation 3.0.4 and NOS 4.5.2 with hypervisor 20150921 and running well, no problem faced but I try to using Foundation 3.3, NOS 4.7.1 with Hypervisor host-bundle-el6.nutanix.20160601.6.tar I got problem when reimaging process, 26 % Status failed and I tried again, 60% failed tried again until Reimaging Done 100%. is it impact for the Software/System/Peformance get Failed then try again until success ? fyi, I use NX1065 with 3 Node, each node has 1x480Gb SSD, 2x1Tb HDD [img]https://d1qy7qyune0vt1.cloudfront.net/nutanix-us/attachment/1664iFC714E9188A6D581.png[/img] [img]https://d1qy7qyune0vt1.cloudfront.net/nutanix-us/attachment/1665i6524EAC2C5681F53.png[/img] Regards, Caplin

Migration Database from Legacy to Nutanix Acropolis

Hai Nutanix Team I have a question regarding to customer needs, what sould I suggest to customer if they want to plan migrate their Database existing to Nutanix Acropolis? and If existing physical email server has 2 or more NIC, 1st WAN 2nd LAN, then we migrate to acropolis, so we add another NIC to VM, so what we configure for mapping NIC's WAN or LAN is at Switch Tor or VSwitch at Acropolis ? Rack Mounting Issue

The mounting rails that came with the NX-3550 are designed for vertical rails with square holes. The vertical rails in my rack have threaded circular holes. How do I mount the NX-3550? are there adaptors? different type of rail?

Live Migration from HP ESX to Nutanix ESX

I am attempting to migrate an ESX cluster sitting on traditional storage and HP hardware to our new Nutanix node. The goal is that we have to make this a live migration before resorting to cold methods. I am aware of the NFS whitelisting method and shared nothing cold migration, however the shared nothing live vmotion migration is not working for me and I was hoping one of you guys knew why. We are using the web browser to do shared nothing vMotion (svMotion + vMotion) in one go. [u]The error message that I get when trying to vMotion from the old cluster to the new cluster is that the source and destination hosts are not eligible for simultaneous storage and compute vMotion[/u] [b]Here is the set up[/b] Both clusters are in the same vCenter 6 - Windows Old cluster: HP DL 380 G5 (Penryn Generation) ESXi 5.1 U3 1 GB network VSS - vlan 66 New cluster: Nutanix (Sandy Bridge Generation and Ivy) - EVC enabled for Sandy Bridge mode ESXi 5.5 10 GB network VDS - vlan 66 Is it

Remote Site Best Practices

Hello- I had a question on remote site best practices. When we create a remote site for PD replication do you think we should create a new container at the remote site for the replicated vms to reside in or just use our existing container that is running that active vms at the remote site? In the second scenario the active vms at the remote site would be on the same container as the snapshots replicating from the PD active site. Just wonder what other people are doing? Thanks, Erik

Hi, I'm deploying a Nutanix cluster with three Dell nodes. The question rose about what timezone should be selected in the iDRAC. It was at first hard for me to undertsand how was the time set into the DRAC and the Bios, and I finally go this: Set Both NTP and Time zone In this method user will configure NTP and Time zone. In this case iDRAC will sync the time with NTP server and selected Time zone will be also applied. iDRAC will sync NTP server’s UTC/GMT time, so it is important that you configure correct time zone while configuring NTP on iDRAC. You can configure up to three NTP servers. It is always recommended to configure all three NTP servers for accuracy. We support IPv4, IPv6 and FQDN format for configuring NTP server address When NTP mode is enabled and iDRAC has received time through this interface, iDRAC will ignore any attempts to set iDRAC time through the server (BIOS, Open Manage, etc.) or CMC (for blade servers). Moving From vCenter Server to vCenter Appliance

I have a 3-node cluster for VDI running ESXi on all three nodes. At the moment vCenter (v6.0) is running on a single virtual machine (this virtual server is on a physically separate cluster from the VDI/Nutanix one). I'm starting to look into how to go about moving from that vCenter server to the VMware vCenter appliance. What considerations would need to be made to get the 3-node Nutanix cluster to move from a Windows-based vCenter server to the vCenter appliance? Would there be downtime involved?

Is it possible to run both VSphere and Oracle VM on the same Nutanix cluster?

Hi, Let's say we have 6 node Nutanix cluster. We want to use 2 nodes for a Oracle VM Cluster and the other 4 for VMWare. Is it possible to do this and use the large NDFS (all 6 nodes) for both hypervisors?

Question on Data location - SSD or Spinning disk on a host

I have a question that might be as a result of old way of thinking/old storage arrays and might be overthinking this :( In Nutanix, VM data is local on a host. For a particular VM, some of it's data/blocks may reside on SSD or Magnetic/spinning disk depending on how hot or cold the data is. I have two questions around this. [list=1] [*]Is there a way to tell from the Prism dashboard or via cli, for a particular host, where it's data/blocks reside? Put another away,Is there a way to tell %wise for a particular VM how much of it's blocks are on SSD vs spinning/magnetic disk? [*]If i was conducting a migration from an old/traditional setup to a nutanix cluster, how does the Nutanix node know how much of the VM's blocks to place on SSD vs on spinning? Automatically Email NCC Results

Trying to setup a Nutanix cluster (non prod) to automatically email me the NCC results. Have setup the SMTP and alert email configuration sections in Prism Element. Verified from a CVM that emails are being sent okay. Next, on a CVM, I ran ncc --set_email_frequency=4 and saw that it took successfully. Finally, running ncc --show_email_config but gettting result Value for the flag --show_email_config has not been set. Obviously I am missing something?

CVM with several network adapters

Hello, We would like to validate some design aspects. Our environment is based on DELL XC630 & XC730, Nutanix 4.6.4 ( in the future 4.7) and EXi 6.0 u2. As for administration perspective, we need to affect an administration subnet IP to the IPMI interface. The CVM needs to be in a production subnet. There is no routing from production to administration subnet. Is it possible to deploy 2 network cards on the CVM for the CVM to communicate with IPMI interfaces ? Is that a validated and supported design by Nutanix. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Question on Local disk vs NFS Datastore

A rather simple question :) Once the NFS Datastore has been presented to the nodes, each node shows the NFS Datastore and the Local disk as available storage. My question is, how do others deal with this scenario? What is to stop an admin from storing data to the local data store as opposed to the NFS data store which is where you want them to store their VM's? Curious how others have dealt with this. Update Failure

Hi all, today I wanted to upgrade NOS on one of our clusters from 4.1.x to 4.6.3 which worked perfectly fine for another cluster. The first CVM was updated successfully but the next CVM Update failed. (Maybe due to connectivity issues to the host.) upgrade_status says, that the node is upgrading right now, but in fact the CVM is powered off and won't boot. After it displays the following information it reboots fails again and after the second reboot it stays shut down. EDIT: it seems like the update process tried to shut down this cvm but got a timeout and now the update is somehow stuck. Can I somehow restart the upgrade process or manually update this CVM? Thank you.
