Manually adjust the kube-apiserver?

Hi, It’s possible to manually adjust the file /var/nutanix/etc/kubernetes/manifests/kube-apiserver.yaml and apply this update into the kubernetes cluster? I tried to adjust and after run: sudo systemctl daemon-reload && sudo systemctl restart kubelet-master But when I describe the kube-api pod I see that the adjusts are not applied. Anibal

Renewing cluster kubeconfig from the command line

Just wanted to share how we are renewing the kubeconfig from the command line. Background: In our organization it was considered a bit clumsy to download the kubeconfig from the Karbon UI. We love the command line and wanted a quick’n’easy way to renew the authentication token. The solution: We created a docker image that contains the “karbonctl” binary and a wrapper script. The Dockerfile was also included into our CI/CD pipeline to automate the image creation. The wrapper script does two things: karbonctl login --pc-ip prism.nightingale.nu --pc-username “$1” karbonctl cluster kubeconfig --cluster-name “$2” >”$3” The commands that the end user run: docker run --rm -it -v “$(pwd)”:/tmp docker.registry.local/karbonctl:latest <login> mycluster /tmp/karbon.cfg export KUBECONFIG=”$(pwd)/karbon.cfg”

Enable PodPreset

Hi, Someone know if we can enable PodPreset on the Karbon? (https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/workloads/pods/podpreset/#enable-pod-preset) Basically my cluster are under a Proxy and I can’t deploy application under Pod because they need to access the internet, with the PodPreset I can configure the proxy information like this https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/topics/autodevops/index.html#installing-helm-behind-a-proxy

Failed to deploy kubernetes cluster (Failed to deploy ntnx dvp)

Hi,I’m trying to explore kubernetes by deploying Development Cluster. But it only stuck at 8% and eventually failed with notification (Internal Error : Failed to deploy ntnx dvp).Here is my detailSegment 192.168.2.x for Guest VM,PC,AOS and AHV. Segment 192.168.3.x for Kubernetes cluster itself (DHCP Enabled)Each segment can ping each other and all those segments are able to access the internet.Here is the detail of the temporary deployed Karbon VM (After failed deploying, the VM got deleted automatically)I’ve been reading someone posted same problem like mine, and it solved because of the VM previously unable to access the internet. But mine is able to access internet, PC and the Internal Nutanix.Perhaps someone can enlighten me what did i do wrong?-Able to pull newest docker image-Able to ping Prism Central (192.168.2.11)-Able to ping CVM (192.168.2.2)-Able to access internetDeploying Cluster stuck at 8%Deleting VM after failure deploymentNotification Internal Error : Failed to deploy

Karbon CSR Request Stuck in Approved State

Hello, After a new deployment, I downloaded the kubeconfig and upon trying to approve a Certificate Signing Request (CSR), the csr just sits in an approved state, but never becomes Issued. Is there a restriction or something on the default-kubernetes-<clustername> user that I might not be familiar with? That or maybe my process is wrong, its odd that it just sits in an Approved state. Any help is appreciated!

Karbon Nodes TimeZone

Hi all  We have karbon clusters running in our Nutanix environment, and I noticed the timezone in the Karbon cluster is not the same as that in other VMs on the Nutanix cluster.  The time zone set for the Nutanix cluster is SAST (UTC +2), and the Karbon VMs timezone is UTC (UTC +0).  The UTC+0 timezone is only on the Karbon Nodes.  It seems it doesn’t use the Nutanix Cluster’s timezone, our logs are 2 hours behind on Karbon Clusters(all 3 cluster).  Is there a way to change the timezone for Karbon?

Karbon API Deployment - Autentification Error

Hi all,  I tried to deploy a Karbon Development Cluster by using Karbon API, but I encounter an error with authentication.    {"message_list":{"Unauthorized":"Failed to get authentication info"},"status_code":401} The command for calling Karbon API is :  curl -k -X POST -d @create-cluster-dev.json --header "Content-Type: application/json" --header "Accept: application/json" --user $NUTANIX_USER:$NUTANIX_USER_PASS "https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9440/karbon/acs/k8s/cluster"   When I try to use other Prism API command, like cluster or vm with these command below,, everything works fine, so I don’t think that my login/password are wrong. How to Karbon configure

I'm testing Karbon. I'm very basic level. I can't make it through the karbon configure testing, so I'll ask you for help. I've upgraded Karbon to the latest version through LCM. After that, I set it up through "Create Kubernets Cluster." That's the problem from here. In the end, an error occurs in the "Deployment Failed" status section. Deploying 8% has an error. I looked up various information. I looked it up, and I think you should setting Proxy http and ERCD. How can setting? Please explain in detail the reason why Karbon can't be distributed. Thank you.

Use internal ca certificate chain on Karbon

Hi, My company have a internal CA certificate chain and I need to install the internal ca.crt on Karbon, it’s possible? Use case, install a pod using kubectl from a internal registry are not possible due they didn’t know the root CA authority installed at the registry server. Anibal

Kubernetes Volume Plug-In Overview

Nutanix provides an external volume plug-in for Kubernetes. Kubernetes is an open source platform for automating deployment, scaling, and operation of application containers across a cluster of hosts. This cluster of hosts can be made up of cloud provider VM instances, Nutanix-hosted VMs, or bare metal servers. Kubernetes is formed with multiple VMs and a master node. This plug-in runs in a pod and dynamically provisions requested persistent volume that is compatible with the Kubernetes iSCSI volume. Nutanix then provides persistent storage for the provisioned volume. Storage classes also have provisioners which determine which volume plugin should be used for provisioning Persistent Volumes. Karbon and Prism Central Management for K8s Cluster

HiI’m currently working on RBAC rights for Prism Central but also for entities (VM,Apps...)In my understanding and in the documentation, i saw that you have to be User Admin on PC to get full rights on K8s cluster. In that statement, how does Karbon acts on K8s cluster rights while it deploy a new cluster ? (For instance, if you are a Viewer on PC you can’t connect to K8s cluster, if you’re User Admin, you can do whatever you want. ) Best regards Gael

Storage Class User for Karbon

I'm trying to configure a new Kubernetes cluster using Karbon. When I get to the stage of configuring the storage class, I'm prompted for a user name and password. I'm not sure which user I should be entering here, as the few I've tried don't seem to work. The cluster setup tutorial video shows the username `admin`, which seems to suggest using a very highly privileged user, which seems unnecessary to me. How can I create a user with the minimum privileges necessary for the storage class?

NCC Checks - Volume Groups

Hi all When doing NCC checks, I get a report(example1) that some volume groups usage is high (95%). example1: Detailed information for vg_space_usage_check: Node 10.x.x.x: FAIL: Volume Group pvc-xxxxxx-9xxx-11x9-bf59-xxxxx8d87c391 space usage (95 %) above 90 % _ The volume group is mounted to Kubernetes pod running in a Karbon cluster. My issue is that, when checking usage of the volume group from within the kubernetes pod, I get different usage results, current stats are 24% used, 76% free. The NCC check and the manual check results don't match. NOTE: There is a clean-up mechanism, so disk usage does go up and down. I have re-ran the ncc checks several times, they yield the same stats (95% usage), thou the usage from the pod is 24%(currently). Can you please elaborate on how the NCC vg_space_usage_check work? And what else to look at to further investigate the mismatch of stats. Tx

Nutanix DVP (Docker Volume Plug-in)

Earlier in the year we shared our Nutanix Docker Volume Plugin on the Docker store. The Nutanix Docker Volume Plugin (DVP) enables Docker Containers to use storage persistently. Normally, if a container is moved from one container machine to another, storage does not move with it. The Acropolis Container Services (ACS) provide a storage volume plugin that enables Docker deployments to be integrated with Nutanix external storage systems and enable data volumes to persist beyond the lifetime of a single container machine host. Is Nutanix working with the Container Storage Interface (CSI) community and Kubernetes in general?

Beyond simple docker volume support but can Nutanix bring their expertise into the CSI space to make orchestration systems like k8s aware of cluster wide storage resources? It also leads into what Nuatnix is doing to enable a K8s API conformant solution on top of the platform. I recognize that we can layer on a k8s runtime as a customer, but similar to what we see with Pivotal leveraging BOSH to make day2 k8s work there seems to be demand for integrated options. The institutional storage knowledge could really take stateful sets to the next level and BOSH as a lot of similarities to Acropolis. I know that there may be overlap with Calm when it comes to service orchestration, but k8s is becoming the defacto language for orchestrating an application delivered by containers.
