5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
Hello, thank you for the very fast response. So which version of Foundation will I need for my installation workstation? I'd like to use my existing VM Workstation but I will be in a secure area and believe I will need to install and use VirtualBox. So I assume i will need VirtualBox installer for Windows, the OVF for the Foundation VM, and the Foundation VMDK for the Foundation VM. It appears that those are only available in Foundation 2.0. Is that correct? Thank you.
Thanks, but I do not have the luxury of getting in touch with nutanix as this install is for a customer tomorrow. Also, the confusion comes from going through the training on the partner portal. It seems now what i was wondring has been confirmed by you, That maybe the training is quite a bit dated. The video demos show screens of only Foundation & Phoenix 2.x. The training makes now mention of Foundation or Phoenix 3,x, or that you don't need Phoenix, as you indicate. Hence the reason for my questions. The training makes no mention of Phoenix for "all" Hypervisors. The training doesn't appear to know that Foundation or Phoenix 3.x even exists. Thank you.
Why don't you need Phoenix with Foundation 3.x? It seems like a critical part of the deployment?
Hello, Thank you for your response. The Account is the REDACTED - JMK. Will have no Internet access during implementation or access to my laptop. So I assume I will just need current version of Foundation VM, VirtualBox to deploy Foundation VM on, and Hypervisor that I am going to deploy. Would that be correct? They have had unit for a while. I assume Nutanix software will need to updated as well.
Hi Jon, Thank you for the reply. Just to confirm, i would need the Hypervisor ISO as well if I were going to deploy a different Hypervisor, such as ESXi, correct? I read through a lot of the Field Install Guide 3.0, and am going to read more this evening. The first thing In the guide it talks about (page 10) is running the Foundation Discovery Applet. i do this and nothing is discovered. my laptop is on a personal switch with the Nutanix nodes also connected to that switch. Though it does say in the guide, "This method is limited tofactory prepared nodes running Acropolis base software version 4.5 or later. If you want to imagediscovered nodes without creating a cluster, image factory prepared nodes running an earlierAcropolis base software (NOS) version, or image bare metal nodes, see Imaging Bare MetalNodes on page 23." The DOM date on the nutanix unit is 10/3/2015. I am wondering if this unit is not running a base software of 4.5 or later and that is why the Discovery Applet i
