Attempting to upgrade AOS from 5.1.3.2 to 5.5.9.5, but the preupgrade steps fails after 5% and the reason for failure isn’t displayed.  Is there somewhere I can go to get some details about why the preupgrade keeps failing at 5%?  This is what is displayed after the failure:

Thank you.

@soverstreet-53914 The pre-upgrade logs are in one of the CVM under:

/home/nutanix/data/logs/preupgrade.out.

You can run:

allssh “ls -la /home/nutanix/data/logs/preupgrade.out” to find on which one it is and login as nutanix to that cvm to see the content of the file.

Also, from:

https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/kbs/details?targetId=kA032000000TVcKCAW

the problem could be corrupted download tar-ball. You can re-download it.

Let me kow if this helps or add the content of the preupgade.out file here to review.

Hi Said,

Thank you for the information.  While there was no preupgrade.out file created on any of the CVM’s, I went ahead and deleted the file that was downloaded to upgrade to 5.5.9.5.  Re-downloaded the file and the preupgrade passed!  Was able to successfully upgrade to 5.5.9.5!

@soverstreet-53914  Glad it worked out simply by downloading the tar file again as recommended by the KB.

Often times when the process fails in early percentages, nothing has been done (as yo noticed there was no preupgrade logs). If it worked out, this file is now there in the cluster.
