In Nutanix Hardware, the IPMI (BMC) keeps track of hardware-related events using the Event Log/System Management Feature. If there is a hardware event that needs to be dealt with, Prism will create an alert and send you an email if Alert Email Configuration is set up. However, there are still other events in IPMI that can be useful.
For example, a power button assertion, a chassis intrusion, shutdown related events, or session audits (failed login attempts) will be logged by the IPMI events logs and can be forwarded via email using SMTP.
