We have a scenario in which we are running VMware vSphere environment on existing servers and planning to deploy a DR site.

Is it possible that we deploy a Nutanix AHV environment at the DR site and replicate from the existing ESXi environment at the Production site to the Nutanix DR site somehow?

We are currently using Veeam backup and replication for VMware for backup.

What is the possibility of such a requirement?
Hi,

I am in the same (opposite) situation with Nutanix-vmware on primary side and I'm wondering if there was an issue in using VEEAM Replication to replicate VMs to a non Nutanix but VMware cluster on a secondary site.

I guess it's possible but that would be great to have a confirmation.
Hi @Muhammad Usman Ayub

That scenario is possible thanks to the Nutanix Cross Hypervisor Disaster Recovery (CHDR), please see the following documentation for requirements and supported guest OS: https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v59:wc-dr-cross-hypervisor-c.html

And @baptiste972 , your scenario is different from the initial question, but the good news is that your scenario is even more simple, since in that case Nutanix will be just the storage layer, and you can use Veeam to replicate the VMs between vSphere clusters since Veeam is storage agnostic.
Hi Richardson,

Thank you for this answer, it confirms what I thaught.
Hi again Richardson,

Thank you for the answer !
