Hi ivanm,

Changing VM UUID is not a recommended practice as it can lead to a collision and all sorts of issues with VM management and performance including potential data corruption.

I understand that you are asking about preserving the UUID and not changing it. From centralised management perspective each new entity must have a globally unique identified. Defying this logic is essentially changing the UUID.

If you there is a license that is tied to VM UUIDs I would suggest to contact the vendor to re-issue the license for the new set of UUIDs or/and tied it to a different parameter such as System ID or MAC address if possible.

Let me know if the above makes sense or if you still have questions.

VM uuid is preserved when moving VMs through Protection Domains between two AHV clusters. Question is simple, can this be done when using Xi Leap

Hi ivanm,

I was aiming to provide not only an answer but also some reasoning behind it. It seems, I failed. My apologies. The simple answer is “No, it can not be done using Xi Leap”.
