Citrix PVS Support for AHV

Hello, i think about Citrix PVS on Nutanix All-Flash Blocks with Acropolis Hypervisor. But there is no offical support for AHV, which means that i have to run VMware or Hyper-V on my Nutanix Cluster to use PVS. -> [url=http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX202032]http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX202032[/url] Is there any roadmap for this?

Choosing the right XenDesktop Version

Hello there, i'll do my first project on a Nutanix platform and need a little hint. We normaly run XD7.6 LTSR for our sites but i'm not sure about Nutanix MCS integration on this on so far. With 7.9 there is an integration for Desktop Studio after installing the Nutanix plugin. Any possibility to get such an integration for XD7.6? If not. Do you think 7.9 will be the better way? I guess it will be.

Best Practices for Horizen View

I see that the Best practices for Horizon View (V2.7.2 August 2014) was written for Horizon View 5.3, on page 19, it is suggested to use "KB2914680 - I/O delays in windows 7 SP1 or Wndows Server 2008 R2 SP1" if creating user profile or user data on a file server. My question is does this still apply if we are running Horizon View 6.1.0? I'm having persona isues and was wondering if this KB2914680 still applies to my version.

Write latency in a VDI POC

We are performing a POC at a customer site using a 3 node DELL XC720xd cluster. The statistics taken from Vcenter show an average read letency around 1 ms and a write latency aroud 5-6 ms. The write latency seems way too high since it should just make 2 writes (base and replica) on SSD. I wonder if the CVM has a timer before it flushes the pending writes to the oplog. This could help generally speaking to reduce the number of I/O and increase the size which is good for SSD. Unfortunatey in our POC we are fighting against the current configuration of server with Fusion-IO PCI cards and this approach could be a disadvantage. Another important parameter is the logon time which average at 35-40 sec on the current system and goes up to 75 sec with Nutanix. Any suggestion to speed up the Nutanix Cluster may be modifying some parameter?

deduplication for Persitent Desktop for developer machine, would you recommend? some feedback please

I have a 5 nodes cluster with 6TB of Data, I'm in the process of migrating Persitent Desktops from NetApp to Nutanix Storage, I have a group of Developers that requesting 300 GB drive space each for their session, we are talking about 10 +, 3.5 TB . Now I have other users on that same cluster as well. Thus far performace is good with the migrated users, I just don't want to add the additional workload in the environment, over allocate my storage, pretty much rely on the deduplication Questions? would you recommend deduplication for Developpers VDI sessions? let's say we have a hickup on the storage side, and we need to power on all the machines? What is recommended best practices to enable deduplication, do we have a best practices guide?

Introducing: vGPU on vSphere, installation and troubleshooting tips

At Nutanix the last couple of days I’ve been invGPUvolved in the testing of the new vGPU features from vSphere 6 in combination with the new NVIDIA grid drivers so that vGPU would also be available for desktops delivered via Horizon 6 on vSphere 6. During this initial phase I worked together with Martijn Bosschaart to get this installation covered and after an evening of configuring and troubleshooting I thought it would be a good idea to write a blogpost on this new feature that is coming. [b]What is vGPU and why do I need it?[/b] vGPU profiles deliver dedicated graphics memory by leveraging the vGPU Manager to assign the configured memory for each desktop. Each VDI instance will have pre-determined amount of resources based on their needs or better yet based on the needs of their applications. QoS for voice traffic prioritization in Horizon View

I'm looking at using Cisco IP Communicator on a Horizon View persistant desktop and would like some input on what others suggest for voice traffic prioritization. Some options I see: 1> Saying "It's on 10GB, it's fine" 2> Using a separate network (port group and VLAN) specifically for voice on a VSS with 1GB uplinks 3> Using a separate network (port group and VLAN) specifically for voice on a VDS with 1GB uplinks pinned to the port group 4> Using a separate network (port group and VLAN) specifically for voice on a VDS with 10GB uplinks 5> Using a separate network (port group and VLAN) specifically for voice on a VDS with 10GB uplinks and traffic prioritization on the TOR switches for the voice VLAN using IP Precedence (differentiated services code point [DSCP]) audio priority. I've been working on a fast paced VDI deplyment with Nutanix. The deployment spanned two Active/Active DCs. Whilst looking at protecting the master image across datacenters I found protection domains to be the perfect assistant - I blogged about it here... Subsequent to the recent VDI Assurance program announcement I published a blog article about what an infrastructure to support 20K to 200K+ Power User desktops might look like on Nutanix. OS Gold Image Best Practices | NTFS Allocation Unit Size

I've been doing some research on best practices when creating a gold OS image for VDI. Some vendors (e.g., EMC) recommend using 8k vs the default 4k with Windows 7. Obviously this has a lot to do with vendor based storage and overall design. Is there a specific OS NTFS allocation unit size Nutanix recommends when staging a gold image based on Nutanix storage technology? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Performance Tests for VDI

I would be interested in seeing some performance tests and results from VMware Planner, Login VSI, etc. What are you doing to load test your VDI environments? I usually use LoginVSI. Just curious what you use.

Hi Everyone, We currently run our XenDesktop 5.6 Environment with Unidesk 2.1 and have only one main issue that we would like to see resolved. With Unidesk the VMDX disks (which contain the layer information) are classed as non-persistent drives. As a result when re reboot the Virtual Destkop VM the power on process can talk anywhere between 10-15 minutes - if these disks were persistent - power on is considerably quicker. I have read (ut unable to find the link) that this has been accepted as a VMware issues and currently being worked on - Can anyone shead some light on this as to when VMware will be resolving the problem Cheers Damon
