Hey everyone,
I am required to upgrade from ESX 6.7 U1 to U2 to resolve a bug that prevents me from going back more than 8-10mins to look at VM performance, however, Nutanix has only just now tested U3.
My question is:
- has anyone migrated to U3 yet and if so how has it been so far?
Hi JayMack,
You can check the https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/compatibilitymatrix (compatibility matrix) in order to verify AOS, Hypervisor and Hardware compatibility.
According with our support FAQ, the goal is to qualify within 90 days of GA release date... since 6.7U3 was releases on 08/20/2019, we can expect to see support only either mid-november 2019 or later.

Hope this helps
@JayMack Based on “https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e000000CsgLCAS” :
“Nutanix has qualified ESXi 6.7U3 on the NX platforms, And we have released an updated iso_whitelist file which can be used on the cluster “,
which translates to, it has been tested and found reliable to work with AOS 5.10.X and 5.11.
According to the note in the same public KB:
“Host boot disk repair break-fix is currently not supported for ESXi 6.7U3. Nutanix Engineering is aware and is working on a fix in future foundation release.”
The foundation it talks about is release 4.5.
As for your direct question, I have not installed it myself, but I have seen it work with no apparent issues at lease in one environment.
Hope this helps a little.

i have already upgraded to ESXi 6.7U3 on Nutanix NX series G6.
it works flalessly without any issues till now, both my vCenter and ESXi are on 6.7U3, and my Vcenter is also running on the same nutanix Cluster.
This helps, thanks!
@CHill You can now download the json file for ESXi 6.7 U3 from:
https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/static/hypervisorDetails
and install that release using 1-click in prism,
Hope this addresses your concern.

Okay, but what has user experience been like? I get that it has been tested but for those who have upgraded, was there anything noteworthy?

Just asking to clarify further:
- Do you mean checking VM performance via Prism > VM screen or from via vCenter > VM > Monitor > Performance?
- is this bug related to Nutanix AOS or ESXi? for which you are planning to migrate to U2?

Hi Mutahir,
- All of the above. I would like to have any reference on the U3 on 5.10.x experience.
- The bug is related to ESXi and was resolved in U3. No, I plan to go directly to U3.

Hi,
Probably a bit late to the discussion so apologies, but we are still on VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 8294253 as supplied by Nutanix and running on NX-TDT-2NL3-G6. Is there a Nutanix install guide to apply ESXi 6.7U3 - do we need to upgrade or completely re-foundation the nodes?
Thanks in advance.
@sbarab Thanks for the info - appreciated.
@CHill Glad it helped and thanks for you patience.
