Hi team, quick question: Is it supported to mix NICs on the same node? Specifically, can both the Mellanox 2-port CX5 SFP28 (25G) and the Intel 2-port E810 SFP28 (25G) (E810-XXVDA2) be used together on a single node?

I believe what you are looking for can be found here: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Hardware-Admin-Guide:har-product-mixing-restrictions-r.html

under NIC restrictions.

This might be what you are looking for: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=HPE-DL-Gen11-Hardware-Firmware-Compatibility:mod-dl380-g11.html

The “The Intel 2-port E810-XXVDA2 is only qualified for Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).” So if your stack is not HCI (eg. using exsi host), then you may encounter issues as it’s only been tested on the HCI stack.

The other consideration is firmware versions: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=HPE-DL-Compute-Server-HW-FW-Compatibility:hpe-hpe-co-comp-nic-r.html

If your stack is full Nutanix HCI, then I suspect you should be fine to mix the NICs. But too be on the safe side, I recommend engaging support and validating your requirements.

I’ve also left some feedback with the documentation team about getting the hardware mixing style documentation done for all manufactures, since I think that is something that would be beneficial to have.
