ThoughtSpot Brings Search-Driven Analytics to .NEXT

by Community Manager ‎06-15-2016 05:10 AM - edited ‎06-15-2016 05:55 AM (1,172 Views)

We sat down with Joe Abbott, Technical Marketing Engineer at ThoughtSpot to chat about the upcoming .NEXT conference in Las Vegas on June 20-22. ThoughtSpot is a new disruptor in the BI market and Gartner has named them a “Cool Vendor in Analytics for 2016”

ThoughtSpot’s Relational Search technology lets business people analyze company data in seconds, reducing reporting backlogs by over 90%. If you're heading to the show, these guys are definitely not to be missed! Here are some of the highlights of our conversation.

What IT challenges are your customers facing?

Getting answers from company data has traditionally been an IT-driven process. When business users have questions about data, the expectation is that it will take days or even weeks for a report to be built due to limited IT resources and a never-ending reporting backlog. This reality is the result of legacy analytics software that just isn’t easy enough for everyday business users, doesn’t perform at scale, and makes it difficult to integrate data from multiple sources.

At the same time, some business users are taking matters into their own hands with newer, “out of the box” BI tools aimed at individual lines of business, creating massive data governance and security challenges for IT.

ThoughtSpot’s search-driven analytics delivers the best of both worlds - easy enough for any user within a centralized, governed BI environment. This speeds up decision-making for business units and frees up time for IT to focus on more strategic initiatives.

What are some of the technologies you plan on showcasing at .NEXT?

We will be showing live demonstrations of the top industry use cases for our search-driven analytics technology.  Attendees can get hands-on with ThoughtSpot and see how it allows users to type in questions (like “sales by store region last year quarterly”) and get best-fit charts automatically built for them.

ThoughtSpot is powered by a sophisticated calculation engine capable of performing aggregations over terabytes of data with sub-second latency. Complete with robust data integration, fine-grained security, and cluster management for reliability and massive scalability, ThoughtSpot brings instant answers at scale to every business professional.

What are the topics you are most excited to see and hear at the conference?

I’m really excited to learn more about how some of Nutanix’s customers are using AHV to create a more flexible, manageable private cloud environment. We’re already using AHV internally to manage engineering workloads but I’m curious to see how other Nutanix customers are leveraging Acropolis for running other enterprise applications.

I’m also interested in learning about what Nutanix is doing to ensure business continuity for important applications. For our customers, ThoughtSpot is one of the few absolutely essential, always-on technologies they need for every-day decision making.

Can you give our audience a sneak peek of what you are going to be talking about at .NEXT?

We don’t have a speaking slot but we’ll be at booth G40 in the expo hall giving demos of ThoughtSpot’s relational search engine running on Acropolis. Nutanix and ThoughtSpot are disrupting business as usual by providing a joint solution that allows IT to centrally manage a single, 100% virtualized infrastructure layer while allowing any business user to create their own reports and dashboards in seconds through the power and simplicity of search. We’ll have a team of ThoughtSpot experts who can answer your questions. Come visit our booth located at G40.
