Sizer Configuration Estimator

Hi everyoneI lead the Sizer team.  I wanted to formally introduce Sizer Basic which is now available for all customers in their My Nutanix portalSizer Basic - Provides customers a simple approach to building out an environment.  Maybe you are thinking about new projects or want to do some what-ifs on expanding your cluster with more workloads.  Sizer Basic is great to scope that out.  From there can share the scenario with your SE.  Here is a demo 

What is Nutanix Collector ?It is a desktop application that collects cluster statistics from your VMware or Prism cluster. This output can then be viewed in Nutanix collector or can be downloaded as an Excel file. Collector Portal is the cloud version of the Collector desktop version offering a lot more in terms of features and capabilities.Collector Portal is an online repository for storing collections, creating projects for viewing, analyzing the collected data, and eventually sizing the collected data in the SIzer. The portal also allows for collaboration/sharing of the data/analysis between stakeholders for more informed sizing. Hello team, We used Nutanix sizer to configure a 3 node cluster, if hybrid mode is selected the smaller suggested option for cold data is a 4 X 2Tb SAS disks set when we choose 2 x 960Gb SSD for hot data. Is it possible to get support and buy a license if we configure the node with 2 x 2Tb disks? It's a small environment and we don't need all that extra space. Every hardware component is in the supported compatibility matrix of the vendor, just not sure Nutanix can fully support a custom configuration

Is there a feature within the Nutanix Sizer that allows for manual adjustment of the vCPU to pCPU ratio? If so, could someone guide me through the process or point me to the relevant documentation or resources?

Hi,i have the the output from RVTools and finding a way to import it into collector for sizing purpose. any idea how?

When attempting to log in to Prism Central for the first time, I encountered the following issues despite using the default Nutanix username and password.  

I’m attempting to import an RVTools into the Sizer tool. I want to exclude some of the VMs before import by editing the RVTools file.  When I edit the file and try to import, I get an error “Host cluster cell not found”There are more than 300 VMs, so I can’t import on the VM level and just disable the individual workloads there.Any ideas or methods anyone would suggest to editing the RVTools beforehand? Thanks in advance!

I have a customer who’s using the tool, but once she connects the tool the values of CPU and memory displays 0% of utilization. Can you help me to address this issue? 

Hi! I have two doubts related to Collector´s vcpu and cpu calculation.1) I couldn't find the information on the vcpu/cpu ratio per VM in Collector's Excel spreadsheet? Please, how is it calculated when we perform workload upload per VM? 2) In Sizer, I performed a manual modeling from Collecto´s Excel spreadsheet information as a “Raw Input” and compared it to the automatic per VM-upload modelling.In the analyzed scenario, the customer has 440 CPU Cores distributed in 19 physical servers/hosts in the current environment (vhost table information)  My calculations/modelling for a “Raw Input” is the same for the overall resources calculated by the automatic per VM upload (RAM, Datastore), except for the total o CPU cores in the cluster.The automatic per-VM upload/calculation was performed with the following settings: As result, the workload was modeled with 552 CPU cores:  Please, why does the per-VM upload have 100 more CPU cores than the existing customer´s environment (552 vs 440 from t

How to Import Live optics excel using  import workloads  in sizer

I would like to create a new scenario with Lenovo HW or modify one with NX HW to Lenovo but I don’t how I could that. Anyone could tell me if is it possible?

I am having issues editing the scenarios, I’m working on with the below error message: Advanced scenarios can only be edited by Advanced users. Basic users can view the Advanced scenarios in read-only mode.This editing and modifications worked for me last week, not sure what happened.

Did partners lose the ability to manually configure nodes?  I need to see available procs for a model and all of a sudden I don’t see a way to look at any manual configuration options.  This isn’t good.

Nutanix collector fails to log into Prism central. This is the error I am getting. “Failed to login. Possible reasons could be having insufficient access permissions, missing binaries or failure to execute scripts” Has anyone seen this issue?

Great pleasure to say Sizer 5.0 is now liveTwo very big thingsCluster settings/cluster policy.  We always allowed you to edit the model list and set thresholds for cpu/ram etc that the cluster must meet.  Lot more now.  Mihn cpu speed.  Required networking.  Also added policy.  So you can state I want production, test/dev, or mission critical policy.  This gives you more rigor in the sizing as enforces best practicesMultiple recommendations  Sizer by default gives you the lowest cost solution.  That is there but now core optimized and storage optimized too.  So solution with more cores or more storage that fits in cost range you state.  Good to have multiple options

Hi Community, I want to know how many time is necessary run the collector in the environment of user. In the manual and video about collector, doesn’t said it. The excel file is create immediate? Or, is necessary run many days?

Hi. I’m trying to use Nutanix collector 4.0 to collect Hyper-V sizing information, however the following error message is displayed during the scanning phase:“Bad http response returned from the server. Code: 500. Content”I tried to use it with Remote option and locally on a cluster member and the same happens.Running the precheck script it shows these failures on the picture: The user logged in is a Domain Admin and local admin, however the script returns a failure about the user rights. Does anyone know how can I enable the “Basic auth” stated on the script output?I also tried Collector version 3.5.1 with no success.Any tips?

Hi team,i want to do sizing for cisco HCI with Nutanix, but i am not found hardware for cisco. i just have hardware for Nutanix (NX-series). please your help. 

We have this HCI project that span in 4 different location data center with DR site in mind.Site 1400 VM + 10 PB Disk Site 2400 VM + 5PB Disk  Site 350 VM + 5PB DiskSite 4200 VM + 5PB DiskRF3 model VM and Disk capacity is based on 5 yr projected growth.VMs is between Large to XL type.We cannot come up with best DELL XC model for this setup is XC760 can accommodate this requirements?Any suggestions 

I am trying to import Nutanix Collector (latest available version) excel to sizer. The excel contains a large number of “PoweredOff” virtual machines. I want to make the sizing based on performance figures only for “PoweredOn” virtual machines. If I choose “CPU: performance” I get a warning message:“Data being imported contains one or more VMs that were powered ON during the collection period and reported CPU utilization. We recommend you to size both Powered ON & Powered OFF VMs.” The warning it self doesn’t make much sense. Maybe it should read“Data being imported contains one or more VMs that were powered OFF during the collection period and did not report CPU utilization. We recommend you to size both Powered ON & Powered OFF VMs.” Additionally “Upload” button is grayed out and I cannot proceed with the sizing. IMHO the “Upload” button should not be disabled.
