Just wondering if anyone has tried the NOS upgrade interface and had good success or issues. I am looking to do it this weekend, but I don't see any documentation on it.

Thanks!

Hi Danbenson,

The procedure for the NOS upgrade from the Prism UI is pretty straight forward.

The full procedure is not documented as such anywhere, since it is more of a self explanatory procedure.

Provided the Nutanix cluster can sustain one CVM to be reboted in the cluster at a given time, we do a rolling upgrade, i.e. once the upgrade starts, one of the CVMs in the cluster will go for a reboot for upgrade and once it comes back up, the other CVM goes for an upgrade reboot and so on.

While a CVM is being rebooted for upgrade, the other CVMs in the cluster serve the host on which the CVM is rebooting (and hence the CVM is unavailable), however the datastore and connectivity is all good on each host during the upgrade.

It is pretty much the same way we do the manual upgrade from the CLI.

The below link has a one liner about the upgrade procedure from the Prism/Web console:
https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Upgrade_Guide-NOS_v4_1:Upgrade_Guide-NOS_v4_1

Please make sure you follow all the cautions, notes and warning on this link.
