Using CALM, it seems the best way to deploy VMs is from a VM image that you add to the Image Configuration store. However, when using Prism Central, it doesn't seem this is possible with ACLI to create an image from an AHV VM. How are people taking an AHV VM in PC inventory and making an image out of it so that you can add it to the image configuration repository? Thanks!

Hi!I have a script in a runbook that dynamically executes a background job using another script, also placed on disk, but there is no output from that background job even if I explicitly ask for the result with Receive-Job.Here’s the code I run to execute the external script as a background job and then get the results:$job = Start-Job -FilePath $pathToScriptReceive-Job $jobThe runbook executes without problems but there is no output. If I use the following method to invoke the external script I get the expected output from the runbook:& $pathToScriptI would like to use background jobs though as there are benefits to that I’d like to use. Can I use background jobs with Calm and if so, how?Thanks.

I’ve recently upgraded to Calm 3.5.0 and now all the ‘shell script execution has failed with error eof’ Has anyone ran across this before?Thanks,-Joe

Hi guys,New runbook.I’ve added a variable with escript that gets a list from DB (using a credential object to connect to the DB)Very simple and straightforwardwhen executing the runbook the variable populates the list and everything is working fine.Unfortunately, after publishing it to the marketplace (with the ‘Publish with secrets’ on) it will give this error upon execution:Warning: These variables cannot be resolved: DBUser.username, DBUser.secretI really can’t understand why it isn’t workingDid someone encounter this behavior? what was your solution?Thanks!

Hi,  I have 2 cluster and are planning to update the hypervisor and VM.1 cluster with 4 Dell nodes with Hyper V server 2019 Hypervisor and multiple VM with Window server and ubuntuanother cluster with 4 Dell nodes VMware Hypervisor and multiple of Window server ubuntu VM too. I have downloaded the LCM bundle package for Dell and the LCM packages and publish it onto the Dark web IIS server. However I can only see the Hardware build and the manifest.Where do I download the software build? Does the Software build package include the AOS and the Hypervisor?  Where does the Hypervisor package include? Hypervisor version ? If it is hypervisor version, does it means update the vulnerability or upgrade the version? Does the package include the monthly Microsoft vulnerability patches for window or SQL? What is the procedure or steps to do the entire

Hi When a blueprint creates an appliction the values of the variables are displayed on the overview page of the application. However if the variables contain calm macros, for example @ @{address}@@ then that text is display and not the value of the macro. I have a blueprint which creates a web service that the user who runs the blueprint needs to connect to using their web browser. My idea was to have the URL in a variable so it would appear in the overview page and the user could just copy and paste it into their browser. It would be even better if the blueprint could open the web page for the user.

Hi, I have a trouble to enable Nutanix Calm when I try to deploy it, I checked NCC and everything run well but in Calm the Precheck failed: “ PC to 0005e2ce-d78a-2724-0000-00000000e308 host cluster health check is not OK. Please check if cluster is accessible from PC ”.My Prism Central version is 5.20.4.5 LTS - Starter License

Hi, I am interested in using Nutanix Calm DSL to automate certain Calm tasks, specifically updating our existing applications to use python3 escripts instead of python2. I noticed that the docker tags for DSL only run from v3.7.0. May I know if there is a minimum version of Nutanix Calm that DSL needs to run on? We are using Calm v3.5.2 at the moment and I don’t have an environment with a later version to try out DSL. Thanks.

Dear Sir/Madam, I have built-up a lab for Nutanix & PA for flow & micro-segmentation test.After created a bluepoint and deploy the PA NVFs VM success, but I can’t find and don’t know how to set rule for app-tier to app-tier and redirect through a service chain in “Security Policy”. Please advise Environment:Nutanix CE, AHV 10, AOS 7, PC 2024.3.1, FNS NG 4.2, Network Controller 5 and enabled Micro-segmentation...etc.

Hi! I have a problem. When I try to create, delete or do a other action I always get the SYS_FAILURE but the Tasks goes through and work perfectly. After that I try to delete the action that was created but there I get again the SYS_FAILURE I work with VMware. There I cant find an error the VMs are created and deleted when I do the specific Action, so it has to be a Calm configuration error. Has anyone experienced this in some way? Hi Experts,We have a requirement to automate SOC process as much as possible,For example - using ticketing system (JIRA), when a request is raised to block a large list of IP's or domains, the ticket should be implemented automatically with out human intervention.Need to understand,If it is possible to integrate CALM with JIRA workflow ? and how ? If it is possible to automate block/release process of IPs/Domains at security devices with the help of CALM? and how ? What other security related tasks we can achieve with the help of CALM here.Looking for some direction and supportive to move ahead.

Does any one know the syntax to get the first 3 characters of the project name ?  The documentation is not clear.  It talks about support for slicing for strings. For example, @@{foo[3:6]}@@, but it doesn’t seem to work.

I am looking at a way to programmaticly add a Directory User to a Project, as part of a blueprint.  Blueprint has a macro for the user identity in question.  I just need to be able to set that user as a Project User, and ultimately VM Owner.  I have the VM Owner, but they need to be a prior Project User, and adding domain users, to project users, sounds like a bad idea.

When setting up my blueprints, i want to lock down most of the configuration to prevent user error. I basically only want a user to be able to adjust the cores, RAM, and size of the data disk. So, i’m clicking the running-person icons to set them to black, meaning not-user-changeable. However, when i Save the change, it goes back to blue. I can’t get the user modifiable/not-modifiable config to stick. Am i missing something here? Thanks!

I am working on setting up a Custom role for end users to self serve market place apps.  Problem is that I can’t see where I can remove access to Polices (Image Placement), Hardware (GRU), and Files. They don’t appear to be in the action list.

Hi everyone, i have a trouble with this error: the alert also sent a notification about this error: Discovered that the nucalm internal service is not working: “helios” I restarted all cluster service but there is no change. Then i checked my nutanix docker to log infomations about that, it showed helios still was running. And i follow KB-8621 to collect log of helios.log.1 with the same time in alert, it showed:

I have created a blueprint and am attempting to pass the default macro @@{mac_address}@@ variable to a runbook. It appears the variable is empty. Any ideas? I am successfully pulling other macros without issue.Calm 3.1.0  

Folks,I have below queries with respect to Calm functionalities,Can Ansible be completely replaced  with Calm in Nutanix automation area? If not, what kind of Ansible tasks can Calm handle? And if I have to differentiate between both, what would be pointers? What other competitive (opensource) products are there in market which gives similar functionalities as Calm?Please help to understand. 

Is there any specific way or prerequisite to apply the Nutanix Clam license. I can see the license is available and free but when I select the quantity ( 1 Pack), it does nothing.
