Can Nutanix configure IPv6 addresses?
Hi, I have questions. We are considering whether it can be operated with IPv6 in our IT infrastructure. So,I found that the prism element can be configured with an IPv6 address. However, I didn't know if components such as Prism central support it. Can Nutanix configure IPv6 addresses? Does Nutanix support IPv6?
Phoenix failed to run on G3 platform
I have an old G3 block that need to be installed for a demo. And after lots of failed tries from Foundation installation, I ended up installing the node manually. But unluckily after creating phoenix iso file for AOS installation and mounting it to the node, an error occurred with message below:“Unable to match system information to layout module”Has someone seen this happened before?
Nutanix Disaster Recovery Solutions
Nutanix offers a variety of DR solutions. The flowchart provides a detailed representation of disaster recovery solutions. Leap with two Prism Centrals: Asynchronous replication: it enables you to protect your data with an RPO of 1 hour or beyond. The policy creates a recovery point of the VMs in every 1 hour (or in the hourly time interval that you specify in the RPO) and replicates it to the recovery site NearSync replication: It enables you to protect your data with an RPO of as low as 1 minute. The policy creates a recovery point of the VMs in minutes (1–15 minutes) and replicates it to the recovery site. You can configure disaster recovery with NearSync replication between two AHV or ESXi clusters at the same or different on-prem sites Synchronous replication: It enables you to protect your data with a zero recovery point objective (0 RPO).You can configure a protection policy with Synchronous replication by defining the VMs or VM categories that replicate all the writes on the pro
CCTV onto SSD instead of HDD
Hello Nutanix CommunityI have a VM that is running CCTV operations. I record multiple video streams in a high resolution and frame rate. Old files get deleted when the space is used up. How can I make sure that the SSDs are not being used for the recording to avoid them to get too many write cycles too fast?Kind regards,Ibinema
Cloud Connect needs NTP sync?
Hi , Could you advice me ?Now, Hypervisor and CVM is NOT syncronized from NTP Server.I use CloudConnect everyday , but that was failed. Is CloudConnect faiure reason relevent to NTP Server unsyncronization? TestConnect is OK from Onpresmiss Cluster to AWS.I read this;https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v5_17:wc-cloud-connect-wc-c.htmlSincerely,

When you open the console window after assigning the GPU to the vm as Passthrough and turning it on, "guest has not initialized the display" appears. When changing to uefi -> bios legacy, the console screen is displayed. What is the difference and is there a way to do it in uefi environment?
Mid-Size Data Migration Utility Recommendations
I’m looking for some possible suggestions for utilities to move SMB file shares to Nutanix Files. I’ve read most (if not all) the documentation in the portal and I’ve even migrated a few of these shares using robocopy (not without some learning experiences). However, most of the shares I have to migrate are 500 GB - 1.5 TB and business critical. Frankly, I’m not looking for any additional Robocopy learning experiences. So, I’m looking around for a good utility somewhere between Robocopy and Miria’s Atempo. The solution doesn’t have to be free but I don’t want overkill. Any suggestion? It may be worth adding that I am using Windows DFS as well. The source shares are DFS targets and I’m pointing the DFS targets to the Nutanix File Shares after migrating the files.
vCenter 7 U1 support
We are currently on vCenter 6.7U3j and looking on my possible upgrade path to vCenter 7 I need to go straight to 7 U1.https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/67077#vCenterServer6.7to7.0Should I wait for 7 U1 support or can I expect Prism/Nutanix and Nutanix Move to play nice with vCenter 7 U1?Looking at release notes for Nutanix Move I see only vCenter 7 for example.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Release-Notes-Nutanix-Move-v3_6_2:Release-Notes-Nutanix-Move-v3_6_2
Why should I use Prism Central for a small cluster?
Title is most of the question… I have a 3-node, local-only cluster (no remote / stretch replication or anything). What do I gain from setting up Prism Central? It seems like Prism Element gives me all of the management capabilities I need (running AHV, probably won’t have more than 20-40 VMs).It feels like standing up PC, even in the single-VM / non-redundant version, will just be a waste of RAM and storage on the cluster. Is there some compelling argument for Central that I’m overlooking because I’m a Nutanix noob?
Restore recovery point in place in PC
Hi, I’m tryning to wrap my head arout the differences between Snapshot and recovery point on a functional perspective. My target is to take vmware like snapshot of my vm. For that i saw 2 possibilities :the recovery point, which are managed by PC and allow for easy replication The snapshot which, correct me of i’m wrong) can only be created in PC My issue is that the recvery point cannot be restored “in place”, I mean in the vm object itself, but only by creating a clone of the vm, this create a extra administrative burden if i have to restore a vm from a recent recovery point as i have to :restore/clone the recovery point into a new VM delete the old one update the clone with the previous name, categories, etc ….In addition the newly restored/cloned vm has lost all the previous recovery point However the snapshot can be restored in place, but they are not managed by PC and replicated to the backup cluster … TL;DR ; Is there a way to either create a snapshot via PC or restore in place

Finding VM Disk Ownership in AHV
Hi,Our 3rd party backup software does a poor job of cleaning up vdisks off of a proxy after it does its backups. Many times, it will leave the vdisk from a snapshot mounted to its proxy server and not delete it. This is a known issue that has been brought up with the vendor (Quest NetVault). Our question is, what is the easy way to see what disks are owned by the proxy VM and what disks are owned by a snapshot image? We want to be sure we don’t remove a disk that is owned by the proxy server. Thanks,
Two Subnets in the same native vLAN
I have a setup with two subnets in the (same) native vLAN. The first subnet is (kind of) forced on me by Unifi (router, switch, APs in in the native vLAN) and I created the second subnet for Nutanix (recommendation ist only Nutanix devices/VMs in the same subnet). Now I need a router or routes configuration in the Nutanix subnet to get access to the other subnet and the internet. What do you suggest to achieve this in a simple way or what is the recommended way of doing that?
DR Scenario and stop auto power on VM AHV
i have two quetion for our scenario : we have to AHV clusters production and DR.in our scenario we need to stop the main be active after powered on when resolve the issue becouse if the main server goes down the DR will be active and after resolve the issue the two cluster will be active active?Q2: How to stop auto power on for VMs on AHV ?that means when the main site be on after solve the issue I do not need the VM powered on automaticlly.. I need to power it manually.

VLan tag for CVM Host and Guest
Hi Team,We have three node (NX-8155 ) cluster connected to nexus switch.Vlan Tag for CVM and Host : 600Vlan Tag for Guest/Prod : 10All are in same subnet ( Host IP : 172.21.10.x/24 , CVM IP : 172.21.10.x/24 and Guest/Prod Network : 172.21.10.x/24 )We have allowed Layer-2 on Nexus, trunk port traffic and added both Vlans ( 600 and 10)Question:Can we keep all under same subnet ? If so how can I communicate inter-VLan , for the purpose of CVM to communicate NTP,DNS,Monitoring and Internet. Else Can I keep CVM, Host and Guest in same Vlan ? How this will impact broadcast domain and any issue with congestion. Else Can we have two different subnet range for (CVM, Hosts) and Guest with different Vlan (600) and (10)
How to write linux vm accessed through "Launch Console"
I have tried to write and other 3rd level keys in my Linux machine, but I am unable when connected through “Launch Console” in Nutanix.Workaround such as shift+ctrl+u (and then some code for the wanted key) does not work either. Is this a Nutanix “thing”, and if so, is there a fix or is there a workaround?
Stack for Nvidia Docker GPU compute?
We’re standing up some docker-based Nvidia GPU compute workloads for the rapids.ai ecosystem for replacing/accelerating Spark & friends. However, we’re lost in Nutanix GPU virtualization docs, so curious if folks have ideas on the pieces for nutanix to work here. Right now, we’re thinking P100/V100 GPU → ahv / esxi → rhel 8.x → docker, and as an optional reach target, see if we can guest multiple host OS’s to share the same GPU(s). We’ve successfully done GPU → Ubuntu+RHEL → docker, but without ahv/esxi in the mix. Most ahv+esxi gpu articles seem more about VDI than compute, so we’re uncertain. Experiences? Ideas? Tips?
