I need to mount a file to an existing linux VM appliance. We don’t have any file shares that this VM has access to, so was wondering if/how this can be done through prism element if possible.
Hi everyone, I’m looking for your advice please for ESXi-based Nutanix clusters with hybrid storage. Question is regarding the placement of ESXi persistent scratch. With traditional architecture, the advice normally was to configure /scratch to be on a shared datastore, not a local one. The argument was that in case of a host failure, the logs will still be available from other hosts. With Nutanix, I can see the options as 1) leave the default, on vfat partition on SATADOM/M2/BOSS; 2) in a folder on local VMFS datastore where CVM is (same storage device though); 3) on a shared datastore, i.e. on DSF. What is the Community (best) practice with ESXi /scratch in Nutanix environment? Please kindly share your advice and thoughts. Thank you.

My issue is that there is no documentation for the Java API, and I don’t know how to use VMAdministration.getVMs() I guess the parameters match the REST API, but I need the documentation to make it work.Any help is appreciated, thanks.
When a cluster goes down due to a power failure, the VMs power back up when the hosts come back online. Is there any way to control this and create a boot order for those VMs?
Hi, I just deployed my 2 clusters on separated Data Center. Right now i have no Link between them besides Internet (No VPN). Can i use NAT Destination of IP Public of each Data Center for the target of Remote Sites Configuration?Example:Data Center A : 123.234.123.234:2020 > NAT Destination to > 250.250.123.123:2020Data Center B : 234.123.234.123:2020 > NAT Destination to > 200.200.123.123:2020Can we configure like that in order to Remote Sites Configuration to work?
Hello community, I am facing a situation with some VMs, where the SSR-part of the Nutanis Guest Tools is causing some trouble. I have two VMs and created a Protection Domain for this to be able to play around with snap restore. One VM is working perfectly, the other VM displays: “Error executing command: Failed to query snapshot due to Nutanix Data Protection service error, error detail: Failed to fetch file information for VM with ID ****** due to hyperint error 1” This message appears as soon as I start the SSR tool or via ngtcli. Both VMs are set up the same way with IP from the same subnet. Can anyone push me in the right direction to have a look for an answer on this? Cheers Dirk
We are running a Nutanix AHV / Citrix EUC environment. We are currently chasing down a problem where we are being told by our Citrix team that machine power on requests are taking 4 - 5 minutes at times.I have asked for specific examples, and the examples I have seen - when looking at the acropolis.out log - show the task for power actions taking 7 seconds to complete.A missing piece here is that the acropolis.out log is showing when the task is being executed but I don’t see where the task request came in. Following this article: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e000000Cq9eCAC I see it clearly documented on how to track down the task. However, our task log shows like, 500 tasks. Is there a limit set somewhere? It seems like the log is for a very short window. When I look up the task ID, I get no data at all. We have 10,000 VDAs so, during a busy time, 500 tasks flush out in minutes, if not quicker.
HyperVisor - ESXi 6.7U3Mostly Windows VMsI’m sure there’s good reason for this and it's probably to do with the way SQL handles memory but when I check the memory usage from Prism or Prism Central for a VM that’s running SQL it’s not accurately reflecting what the VM is actually using. For example, from within the VM if I fire up task manager or even perfmon it will report the memory usage at say 95% whereas from Prism it reports the VM as using 25%.I need to generate a report for a collection of SQL VMs and application servers but I think for the SQL VMs I'm going to have to provide perfmon screenshots or something.Can anyone explain to me in simple terms why this is happening?
Hi,In the Prism Central v3 API, when making a POST request to the clusters/list endpoint and the hosts/list endpoint, the offset and length parameters are ignored. As a result, the response returns all the clusters/hosts irrespective of the parameters passed.Has this issue already been reported, and do you happen to know when we can expect it to be fixed?Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody,In this moment, I have a 1-node cluster AHV, but in a few months this cluster will be expand could be with 1 or 2 nodes more.May I expand to 2-nodes cluster? If it is possible Is necessary a witness VM?If I have the opportunity, I think buy other 2 nodes, I think that I will not have issue expand from 1-node to 3-nodes cluster. Are I right?What do your recommend in both scenarios?
Hi Team, I will be carrying out upgrades tonight at 8 pm GMT and want to plan before hand: can I please get urgent assistance: I understand that I can jump from AOS 5.15.6 LTS to 6.0.1.1 directly but before doing this I want to confirm below: The order I can see is to upgrade Foundation 1st: we currently have foundation-4.6.2-6e9b7fc8 version can we directly jump to 5.0.4 version of foundation? or we have to install from older base versions one by one to reach 5.0.4? NCC 2nd: we currently have 4.1.0 can we jump to 4.2.0.2 or we have to install 4.2.0.1 first?

We have a customer that asks if they can use the serial port to pass data to the VMs and then get that data sent out from the servers? Does anyone know if this can be done with the serial ports for the Nutanix NX-3460-G7
This seems like the place to post this, so please tell me if I need to move it.I am trying to setup a lab with a Nutanix G3 3060 cluster running 5.15. Using AHV, which I don’t have a lot of experience with. I think I am having a networking problem. For lab I’m only using 1GB connections.On each link I have a native or untagged VLAN which the CVM’s use. I also have several other Tagged or Trunked VLANs that I want to use for other purposes in the lab.The CMV’s are fine and the cluster comes up no problem. It has some complaints like NTP and the like, but it is otherwise good.Under networking I added the other VLANs and their VLAN IDs.I then created an OPNSense VM and gave it 2 NICs. One on the management VLAN. The same one the CVM’s use that is native. Then a second NIC with one of the tagged VLANs .I have verified that both NICs are set to connected. I even tried adding a 3rd. The management NIC (untagged) comes up and I can access the VM, but the other one won’t. OPNSense is reporting

Hi, I'm relatively new to Nutanix, so I'm still learning the concepts and terms. But I was wondering if it was possible to develop a Powershell script, for the purpose of getting the last logon of Windows 7 workstations running as VM's in our environment. The script would run from a central location on our network, so it would have to access AHV and then somehow be able to grab the last logon time in the guest OS by the user who "owns" the workstation. We determine who owns the virtual workstation, by determining the sole user listed in the Remote Desktop group. We can do this, in VMWware for Windows 10 workstations; but I've been told that it's a little more tricky to develop such a script for Windows 7 running on Nutanix. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated, so that I could get a starting point. Thanks.

Hello, We are running out of network ports in our datacenter so we thinking of reclaiming the existing Nutanix IPMI network cables and instead use KVM dongles for those. I want to check with everyone here to make sure that there are no functional issues with loosing IPMI connectivity or does Nutanix need IPMI connectivity all the time.
