I ugraded my ESXi hosts using 1-click upgrade to VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.7.0.update03-15160138.x86_64-DellEMC_Customized-A04 with no issues. Trying to apply patch ESXi670-202004002.zip using 1-click upgrade and get the following error: Upgrade bundle is not compatible with current VIBs installed in hypervisor. [DependencyError] VIB QLC_bootbank_qedi_2.10.19.0-1OEM.670.0.0.8169922 requires qedentv_ver = X.11.15.0, but the requirement cannot be satisfied within the ImageProfile. I am able to successfully patch using esxcli and update manager. I updated the image profile to DellEMC-ESXi-6.7U3-15160138-A04 on the hosts thinking that may resolve the issue but this did not work. Anyone have any suggestions to get 1-click upgrade to function with 6.7u3?
Hello, we have only recently implemented Nutanix in our environment so apologies if this is a noob question. My issue is this: I have a 2012 Server VM that I need to repair using the CMD prompt. I am adding a CDROM with the Server 2012 ISO mounted and set to boot. After Windows setup loads I open CMD prompt but the disk where the OS is installed can't be found. Its as if only the ISO is being seen and no other drives. What am I doing wrong?
We just purchased Nutanix ( 2 Appliances , 3 nodes on each ) , we are planning to use VMware Enterprise plus on them. I've few questions, I would be more than happy if I get the answers: 1- if we used VMware, all Nutanix functions will be applied ? ( for example, if one HD failed, the data will be transfered to another Hard disk? ) 2- If I'm using 3 nodes, and I'm utlizing all the CPU and Memory and HD capabilities for all three, once one node goes down, how the VMs on this node will go to the other nodes while we are utlizing their full capacity? 3- if one node fail, the VMware VMs on this Node will be Automatically moved to another Node ? 4- In general, is there any difference if we used Acropolies or VMware ? will we get the same functions on Nutanix?
Ok, yesterday one of our many Nutanix clusters was upgraded to 5.15 LTS and I started to create a new Windows Server 2016 template using UEFI-configuration. Now I am stuck at display resolution of 1280x1024 and change is not possible, because it is grayed out. Nutanix Guest Tools from 5.15 LTS and VirtIO 1.1.5 are installed. Is this bug known and does there exist a work-around? What about 5.16 STS? Is it fixed there? Thanks for any reply. Regards, Didi7
Not sure why but there appears to be an absence of documentation pertaining to required ports that might need to be opened in a firewall to access the CVMs. Perhaps Nutanix thinks that organizations aren't going to firewall off the cluster to protect access from malicious users. If I'm wrong why don't I see a list of ports that are needed to access the CVMs rather than KB articles showing what outgoing ports are needed in a perimeter firewall? In order to properly protect a cluster the CVMs should sit behind a firewall, which in my architecture this will be the case before we go live with anything. In order for admins to access the CVMs through a firewall TCP 22 is needed for SSH, and 80 and 9440 are needed for accessing the web console. Is this is? or are there more ports that would need to be opened up for the various types of admin interactions? [list] [*]how about running cli tools against the cluster? Hello guys, currently i deployed a new hpe hardware Hypervisor version is ESXi VERSION 6.7.0 I need a vcenter to deploy some VMs in Nutanix, so i downloaded the vcenter applicane and tried to run the setup with admin rights. I have currently no dns server, so i used the gateway. NTP server is currently not available, because the environment is completly new, so i used the Time-synchronisation: Synchronize time with the ESXi hostSynchronize time with NTP servers Its activated with http://de.pool.ntp.org/; but is only temp. The vcenter appliance setup 1 is running fine, the step 2 is very slow and need much time. After 2hours on 50% i canceled it. The error: No file found matching /etc/vmware-vpx/vc-extn-cisreg.prop cmd "/usr/bin/python /usr/lib/vmidentity/tools/scripts/lstool.py list --url http://localhost:7080/lookupservice/sdk" timed out after 60 seconds due to lack of progress in last 30 seconds (0 bytes read) but why? It looks like it’s trying to mount a phoenix.iso but that file does not exist and isn’t being created during the install. Leading to Foundation to be unable to SSH to it after boot. Please assist. Is there an easy way to put a single ESX host into maintenance mode?Not to compare products but with Cisco Hyperflex, you right-click on the host and there’s a “Hyperflex maintenance mode” option. This does what needs to be done to the CV without having to SSH into anything.I was just wondering if the process has improved in 3 years.
Hi, We have deployed couple of guest VMs on Windows 2019 Standard Edition OS on our 6 node cluster. Both the guests are configured with 1 VCPU with 2 cores along with 16 & 32 memory respectively. We have procured standard paper license of the OS. The hypervisors are running on AHV version 20170830.337 & AOS - 5.10.8.1 LTS. Is there any specific licensing model for Windows Server OS to run on AHV? How are the Windows licenses determined? Kindly help.

I have setup Nutanix CE in a lab environment but I cannot get to the Prism page when browsing to the CVM IP address. I'm getting the message: [b]Prism services have not started yet. Hi Team, We are running few file servers (windows 2016 machines) which are running on Nutanix + VMware 6.5. For e.g. i have a 5TB VMDK attached to the VM which is holding up a lot of files (being a file server). Now when we check the size of this disk in VMware, we this as around 4TB consumed (similar figures in Prism as well). However within Windows, the actual space consumed is only 1 TB. The question is - how do we reclaim this space to match up the numbers seen by OS with what VMware believes the used space is. (i have seen some posts where users have mentioned using sdelete etc. but it isn’t really a scalable solution) Thoughts ? Thanks. Ravi
I am not able to discover new node placed in different switch in same VLAN from an existing cluster The issue not able to discover the newly installed nodes in new switch with same VLAN of existing cluster( it is in old switch ) , but not able to discover these new nodes in existing Could anyone help me to give a clue , why these nodes are not able to discover in the existing cluster. Hi everybody we are just in the beginning of the process of migrating our environment from VMWare to AHV. One of the scenarios that we need to consider for one of our application sets involves cloning an entire drive from a build server to a reporting server. Essentially right now I have a server that takes data and compiles it into a finished product on an intermittent basis. When the server completes it’s build it calls another script that clones the drive to a reporting server. Our reporting server has duplicate drives 1 online and 1 offline, the script overwrites the offline drive, then gets the drives to swap online state so that our clients are now reporting on the newly refreshed data. I am looking to replicate this concept and am hoping for a few pointers. In our existing environment I am making use of some of the storage commands for the disk clone. I am hoping to understand how to replicate the disk clone from an AHV hosted Windows server. Would anybody have any sugge
Hello there, I am running AHV 5.5.5 after trying to upgrade BIOS and BMC through LCM, one of my nodes failed, then its not booting up, keeps booting in pheonix, tried disabling maintenence mode for the node with no luck, and i was trying to force boot into host via "python reboot_to_host.py" but the script doesnt seem to exist. We found it useful, and decided to spring for Ultimate Licenses for the non-Community Edition.So I’ve got those licenses, but now I’m having a heck of a time figuring out what to download and install! Hello, We just received some alerts from our PRISM about the disk firmware. Following the alerts we have to upgrade them. Info : SATA DOM on host XXXXXX has old firmware version: SATADOM-SL 3IE3 firmware version is S560301N. Need to upgrade to the latest firmware version. I have a W2k19 VM I created as a patched image. Idea is to patch it monthly. Shut it down and clone it. Then sysprep the clone and copy the disk to the Image Service. Then I can create VM’s off of it. I will repeat the colne after patching the ~master image monthly in order to keep a patched disk ready to spin up VM’s from. We are using AHV, version 5.10. Mt question is the “CLONE” a full, independant copy of the VM ? TIA -S
