We normally keep a handful of template VM’s with different type of OS that are updated and “ready to go” and use these for global automation when deploying new machines. I would like a way to deploy these templates as qcow2 images globally using the Prism Central image management. After a template VM are updated, I would like to automate them beeing converted to qcow2 images (already got this working with “qemu-img convert” command) and then import the qcow2 image to the Image repository in Prism Central to be distributed to all sites. The last step I have not managed to figure out how to do. Obviously I need some kind of API or CLI to automate this but all I find is how to do this using the GUI in PC. Did I miss something?
I just deployed a Witness VM (ESXi) for our first 2 node cluster and after setting the IP and reboot it gets the host name NTNX-<IP NUMBER>-A-CVM.Since it seems the witness VM is a kind of CVM I assume it wants to use the NTNX-<NAME>-CVM naming convention or it is OK to set the host name to whatever?Worked fine using “sudo /usr/local/nutanix/cluster/bin/change_cvm_hostname <hostname>” to set the host name.
I have a 3 node AHV cluster that uses 2x200GB SSD + 2x6GB HDD disks for each node. Would it be possible to add nodes to this cluster that uses 2x480GB SSD + 2x6GB HDD disks?Option is to first upgrade the 200GB SSD disks to 480GB to align all nodes to the same hardware. Maybe there is some gain in that?
Looking on OS supported to migrate with Nutanix Move v3.6.0 I see CentOS 8.2 as supported but when I add a CentOS 8.2.2004 VM to be migrated from ESXi 6.7u2 to AHV 20170830.434 I get this warning:This VM is not on the AHV supported OS list. To proceed with migrating this VM, please be sure to bypass guest operations and take care of installing AHV device drivers separately. This VM has a guest OS which is not supported on ESXi. Please remove the vm from the migration plan if migrating to ESXi.Is this expected?
We have a couple of 2 node cluster with a Witness VM on a separate host but I can not seem to find any documentation on how to enable SNMP on it.Using the “ncli snmp add-user” command that works for normal CVM’s just throw me the error:“Error: Cannot connect to Prism Gateway”Any ideas?
We are currently on vCenter 6.7U3j and looking on my possible upgrade path to vCenter 7 I need to go straight to 7 U1.https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/67077#vCenterServer6.7to7.0Should I wait for 7 U1 support or can I expect Prism/Nutanix and Nutanix Move to play nice with vCenter 7 U1?Looking at release notes for Nutanix Move I see only vCenter 7 for example.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Release-Notes-Nutanix-Move-v3_6_2:Release-Notes-Nutanix-Move-v3_6_2
