Connecting Cloud Innovators: Building Community at .NEXT 2024
The customer I currently support has a pair of Nutanix clusters running on the Dell PowerEdge XC630-10 harward platform. They have really enjoyed the performance and overall gain (simplicity of the design, reduction in administration/alerts, etc.) since moving to the Nutanix platform. The topic of a server refresh has arisen, and we're beginning to collect all the different metrics we will need to analyze to support this effort. After that's done, though, the planning and designing will begin. In the past, I've used the Nutanix Sizer. That since seems to be locked away behind a Nutanix/Partner Login page now? Does this still exist? Is there one that supports the Dell hardware platform line? Any other workload sizing resources for the theoretical migration planning would be much appreciated. Thanks, in advance!
Last week I upgraded our Prism Central from 4.6.1.1 to 4.7. I noticed following the upgrade that our Prism Central cluster Capacity information was not being displayed, as if it was a 'fresh installation.' I assumed this was just part of the 4.7 upgrade, and that giving it time to collect data would start the capacity forecasting all over again. However, now 4 days after the upgrade, I'm still not seeing any Prism Central Capacity information. It simply states "We are currently collecting usage data. Cluster usage data will be displayed here in 24 hours." Has anyone else run into this issue?
The customer I'm supporting has an internal Information Security/Information Assurance requirement that whereever possible, centralized authentication for privileged use/access should be deployed. For our Prism and Hypervisor environments, this is accomplished with Active Directory/LDAPS integration with the Enterprise Microsoft domain. However, with not being as versed with the Nutanix CVMs and not wanting to 'break something' trying to incorporate them, we have elected for individual local user accounts on each CVM. In our environment today, that's not a huge undertaking, but it's certainly not convenient, and it's definitely not in-line with the customer's requirement for a single centralized privileged user administration. I've scanned the Nutanix Bible and the Nutanix Support documentation, but nothing has jumped out at me yet. Is anyone else aware of a documented (and supported) method in order to integrate the CVMs with Microsoft Active Directory?
