5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
We have a (older) Windows 2012 R2 VM with a OS Disk and a Data Disk (scsi.0 and scsi.1 respectively) running on AHV / AOS 5.20.4.6 LTSThe data disk (scsi.1) was originally created with 4kb allocation unit size (no NTFS disk compression is utilized) and this disk has reached it’s maximum size under NTFS of 16TiB. It’s also 96% full… 😟The custom application is such that mount points won’t work. It was suggested to see if perhaps Acronis Disk Director could safely change the drive’s allocation unit size from 4k to 64k (and preserve the data). To my knowledge formatting a drive is the only way to accomplish allocation unit size changes...Is changing the allocation unit a supported operation?Has anyone successfully made such a change?
Hello,On ESXi based Hypervisors in a Nutanix cluster, in AOS 5.20.2.1 Prism Element | Analysis has a Metric Chart that can be created for a host:Virtual NIC bytes received rateVirtual NIC bytes transmitted rateVirtual NIC bytes dropped transmitted packetsVirtual NIC bytes received packets dropped Any chance it can be added as a metric chart for hosts running AHV? (perhaps I’m missing something...)I do see it in the Networking Visualization - (just the mini-charts when a host / interface is highlighted). We do have network visualization configured and working. Two separate but related questions to Move:I’d like to confirm/verify regarding the Antivirus requirement. Many AV vendors offer the ability to temporarily disable their scanning engines (or at least they used to) except for MS Defender (aka MS Security Essentials/Windows Defender/Microsoft Defender/aka MS Defender 365 etc - either paid or free versions https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-defender/advanced-hunting-product-name-changes/ba-p/2009233).During an unrelated troubleshooting support call with Microsoft, they indicated that the Defender engine cannot be turned off/it’s built into the OS.Q1:So, as long as VirtIO drivers are able to get installed while Defender is running, is Microsoft’s Defender product exempt from the AV requirements mentioned above?Q1.1: Are there any particular settings/combination of requirements (i.e. CIS level 1 or 2 like configuration items for Defender) that would not be supported with Move?https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/compliance/reg
vCenter 7.0U1c and vSphere Clustering Service VMs on local or shared storage. After test upgrading vCenter from 6.5U3 to 7.0U1c (which worked just fine w 0 issues), every vmware cluster with DRS and/or HA enabled gets 3 new vCLS (very tiny VMs w 2GB storage/.13GB RAM).When NCC is ran it registers 3 WARNs that there are VMs running on the SATADOM’s. I would assume that, even what (little) they do (today), would this wear out Satadom’s or M.2’s?Would this be a concern for G4/G5’s (w Satadoms) and not G6/G7’s (M.2’s)?”While vCLS can be moved to shared storage, wouldn’t they be moved back to local storage during an NX cluster stop?(Like to point out this was done in a LAB environment, not in Production… no bits nor bytes were harmed during the upgrade progress.)
Is there a comprehensive Nutanix Files related command reference guide (PDF/HTML)? Similarly, a reference guide for Files with respect to APIs, RESTful calls, PowerShell/Python APIs etc?
