Hello, I am trying to create a vm that will use UEFI and Secure boot with the new powershell cmdlets. With the version 1 cmdlets this was not possible. Does anyone know if this is possible with V2 or are we still required to use the API along with the powershell cmdlets?
Hello All, I am working with Affinity policies and I wonder if there is an Affinity “light”. What I mean by this is in Hyper-v clusters you have a “Preferred Server” this means that if the preferred server is available the vm will reside there if not it will move to stay running. Once the preferred server is back online then it will move back. Is this possible in AHV? Thanks,Scott
Hello All, I have added a managed network in our cluster. We have since purchased another cluster and in the process of configuring VXLan and the ability to live migrate VM’s between clusters. From what I have been seeing we cannot have a managed network across clusters is this correct? If not does anyone know how to configure a managed network to work between clusters. Thanks,Scott
I have started to code this but thought maybe someone might have already completed this. My issue is I have a windows server in AHV with 10 disk drives. When I get a call from my windows team to expand a drive they will give me the drive letter. However I cannot use that to map back to Nutanix AHV. So outside of coding a tool that will map these 2 systems is there a way to correlate what drive is what? I do not want to have to log into a VM every time I get this request if possible.
Hello All, I am working on a powershell script to create VM’s and I am having an issue with the following piece. $boot=New-NutanixObject BootConfig$boot.uefi_boot=$true$boot.secure_boot=$true$boot.boot_device_type='DISK'$boot.disk_address=$vmDisk.vm_disk_clone.disk_address The error I am seeing is “Boot disk index must be specified” I used the following to make the $vmDisk variable you are seeing at the bottom of the trouble code. $diskImage = (Get-Image | Where-object {$_.name -eq $vmdisks})$diskImage = Get-Image -IncludeVmDiskId -ImageId $diskImage.UUID $cloneDiskAddress=New-NutanixObject VMDiskAddress$cloneDiskAddress.vmdisk_uuid=$diskImage.vm_disk_id$vmDiskClone=New-NutanixObject VMDiskSpecClone$vmDiskClone.disk_address=$cloneDiskAddress$vmDisk=New-NutanixObject VMDisk$vmDisk.is_cdrom=$false$vmDisk.vm_disk_clone=$vmDiskClone I know it is something simple I just don’t know what it is. I appreciate any help. Thanks,Scott
Hello All,I have successfully installed Prism Central and it has been working well. I have configured a “view” under the focus button in the vm’s menu; however, this setting will not stay once I log out and back in. Currently the process is once I log back in I need to click on focus and pick my view. Is there a way to make that my default view? Maybe tie the view to my user account? I have included and image below to help. Thanks,Scott
Hello All,I have recently deployed Prism Central and I am trying to give team members access via their AD accounts. I have went through the roles and discovered I cannot add new members to the predefined roles; however, if I duplicate the roles I can add AD users and groups to the new roles. This works for me however when I duplicate a role such as the “Super Admin” role I am warned that not all permissions are going to apply to the new role and I would need to create the new role via CLI to get these permissions. Ok fine that makes some sense. But where is the documentation on how to do that? Can someone point me to the documentation to perform these role creation tasks via CLI?Thanks, Scott
Hello All,I am new to Nutanix and AHV; however, I have a large amount of experience with Hyper-v and SCVMM. One of the things I am trying to do is automate the creation of a vm’s. My end goal is to take an “image” base drive I have uploaded to images containing an install of my windows OS.Deploy a new vm with that image, have a static IP assigned to the new vm automatically from a pool of IP’s, join my domain, and run a few powershell scripts in the VM. I would have done this all with an IP pool and a template in SCVMM and as much as I have read about templates in AHV I am not seeing anything like it. Am I missing something here?Do we have a resource on how to configure something like this?
