5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
We have numerous clusters and each have their own hardware platform (and in a couple of cases, we’ve even mixed hardware models within the same cluster). Our current Nutanix footprint;VENDOR MODELS NODE COUNTSuper Micro NX-8155-G7 12Super Micro NX-1175S-G6 7Super Micro NX-3060-G7 6Dell XC630-10 14Super Micro NX-8035-G7 12Super Micro NX-8035-G6 36Is there a preferred or recommended solution for hardware monitoring and alerting? For instance; Dell OpenManage (DOM) or Supermicro Server Manager (SSM). I don’t readily know if either would support the others solution (like DOM supporting IPMIs or SSM supporting iDracs) Or, would Prism Central (and Prism Element) be sufficient for hardware monitoring and alerting? We currently have and are using DOM but not for the SuperMicro hardware so I’m wondering if I’m potentially missing out on a better solution or not.
I just had a security scan done against my cluster running AOS 5.5.6 and the only 'high' risk that came back was with cve-id CVE-1999-0548 (NFS Server Without Shares Detected): Description; A superfluous NFS server that is not sharing any file systems has been detected. How to Fix; Disable the NFS server. Obliviously, I don't think I want to disable the NFS server service on all of my cvm's - is there any official documentation that I can share with my peers to support this so that I can get an exemption from this risk on these systems?
I know that this question has been asked in this forum a few years back but I wanted to see if the answer changed since the newer releases of AOS. In my case, I’m running AOS version 5.15.4 LTS and found that our 7-node cluster was configured for RF3 - although most of our containers are RF2 (the exceptions being the “NutanixManagementShare: and “SelfServiceContainer” containers).Since most of our containers are only RF2 I’m not too concerned about extra overhead but was curious if AOS now supports the switchback from RF3 on the cluster.
Is there an option to Pin to SSD in AOS v4.7 with vSphere hypervisor?
After converting a VM running Windows 2012 r2 from VMware to Nutanix using Move version 3.4.1, we are receiving event IDs 257 and 259 regularly as shown below.Log Name: ApplicationSource: vmStatsProviderDate: 3/15/2021 8:35:34 AMEvent ID: 257Task Category: GeneralLevel: ErrorKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: ServerADescription:The "vmStatsProvider" can not be initialized. Are there plans to validate a version of VMware’s ESXi hypervisor that addresses recent vulnerabilities outlined here; https://www.vmware.com/security/advisories/VMSA-2020-0023.html The proposed version to address this threat is ESXi670-202010401-SG for existing 6.5 hosts or ESXi675-202010401-SG for existing 6.7 hosts. It appears that the latest json version for download from My Nutanix is 6.7.0 U3 - which is slightly older than the version being proposed to resolve the vulnerability. Thanks!
Is there a way to generate a report in File Analytics v3.2.0 based on a specific file name - for example ‘java.exe’?I’m only seeing the option to filter on ‘file extension’ and that would obviously generate more than I want.
I’m running several clusters and have variety of hardware platforms that I’ve listed below;NX-1175S-G6NX-3060-G7NX-8035-G6NX-8035-G7NX-8155-G7How can I determine if these support a TPM 2.0 chip?
