5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
Hello everyone, I have a question concerning the analysis tab on the Prism Element UI. To get started i will shortly explain what our current situation is: Last year we sold some Nutanix boxes to a customer. In this contract we also included monitor/management services. As an agreement, every month we schedule a meeting with our customer where we evaluate performance of the nutanix clusters. There are 3 main fields we focus on during the meeting; Cluster host usage, storage performance and storage usage. (See picture below) In this report we include all the data we extracted from the analysis tab on Prism Element. We import this data into excel and pour that data into graphs. (See picture below). This is where our problems arise. As you can see we need both monthly & lifetim
I recently had an individual VM whose CPU spiked to between 94-98% for roughly 6 hours. I'd only caught it because the user finally called in and said their VM was slow. In Prism it wasn't showing a warning at all, but I could very clearly see that the CPU was pegged. I wondered if there was any way to set up an email alert for if CPU/RAM at the VM-level has sustained utilization above a certain threshold?
This one is stumping me. I opened a low priority ticket to get some official info, but i figured i would ask here to see if anyone else has had a similar experience: Background: we received an alert from prism central that one of our cluster's was going to run out of CPU soon. I checked in the hypervisor (esxi) and in prism element and in central under analysis but i could not find an issue. Then, i checked planning and it shows us running out of CPU very soon. At first i thought the initial load up was skewing the data, but when i looked closer, i noticed that the value planning was using for our current usage was at 50Ghz, when the hypervisor is reporting 12Ghz (cluster of 3).I pulled all of the other cluster's planning data and all of them have the same problem, CPU usage is being greatly over reported on the planning chart. Charts under analysis agree with the hypervisor, but these are looking at % usage, not hz. What gives? is there a bug in how planning is calculatin
Hi, I am looking for a complete MIB SNMP.I see that, in Prism / SNMP / View MIB, there is a MIB. But I wonder if this list is complete. AOS 5.5Thanks, Pierre
Hi All I am new to Nutanix and coming from a VMware environment I confused. I have a 3 Dell XC Cluster and I access the whole thing by a cluste IP address which puts me in Prism - the Prism says I have not registered with Prism Central - If only have one cluster do I need Prism Central, what benefit does Central give me? Thanks Eric
Is there a way to export/import/backup configuration of Prism Central / Element?
This is very minor but I wanted to get it out there. I'm running PrismCentral 4.7.3.3 to manage 6 clusters - each of those other 6 clusters are at AOS 4.7.3.1 however, in PrismCentral, under 'Explore', 'Clusters', the AOS version is still showing as the original version. It's been several weeks like this now (see below). Interestingly, when I select any of those clusters in PrismCentral, the version is shown accurately;
Hi there, we just upgraded to Prism Central using the ESXi OVA, and during creation noticed that there is a 500GB 3rd disk set to thick provisioning. This caused some space concerns on an already tight container, so I flipped it over to thin provisioned although I didnt really want to :) A couple questions.... is this 500GB drive 3 normal? I dont remember having these space concerns with the prior PC install. Any forseen issues with the thin provisioning? other than possible space not available as the disk expands. Appreciate the comments/thoughts.. ..BRent
