Trying to setup a Nutanix cluster (non prod) to automatically email me the NCC results. Have setup the SMTP and alert email configuration sections in Prism Element. Verified from a CVM that emails are being sent okay. Next, on a CVM, I ran ncc --set_email_frequency=4 and saw that it took successfully. Finally, running ncc --show_email_config but gettting result Value for the flag --show_email_config has not been set. Obviously I am missing something?
A rather simple question :) Once the NFS Datastore has been presented to the nodes, each node shows the NFS Datastore and the Local disk as available storage. My question is, how do others deal with this scenario? What is to stop an admin from storing data to the local data store as opposed to the NFS data store which is where you want them to store their VM's? Curious how others have dealt with this. Thanks, Sky
Hi, There is a fun bug with version 4.1.2.1 ... (or its me?.. :cathappy: ) In version 4.1.1.4, it was possible to update Hypervisor via PRISM UI (with version 5.5u2), but in version 4.1.2.1, its not possible :(see below) Thks guys ! Hi Everyone, I've planed to deploy Spunk on Nutanix on my Company. But i'm newbie in Nutanix, so I have some question about this: 1. Nutanix have hypervisor which I can use is ESXi, HyperV,KVM... so in my case, I will use Esxi and rehat to install Splunk. it's mean I have install Splunk on Redhat which is running on ESXi, is it right? Can i install Redhat directly to Nutanix server (1 node have 4 server?) 2. About the Cluster, Which is control the cluster on VM Host? Vmware vCenter or Nutanix Prism Central? 3. Nutanix have an OS is VM Controller? is it install on Vmware machine or is it a hypervisor? Thanks for all reply to make my clear this stuff.
Hi Everybody, I'm new to Nutanix, I'm having my first node installed on Monday so ery excited ! I have the chance to dedicate a Nutanix host for a Lab and will have the time to play around with it. I've seen that 192.168.5.0/24 is a dedicated subnet for the CVM, but this is also the subnet in which my Lab resides. Is it ok to use the CVM and the production VM in the same subnet ? What are the options ? I've been told the CVM network cannot be changed. But is it ok to have the VMs and the IPMI in the same LAN ? For a production environment I can understand that security wise and performance wise, this is mandatory to split the subnets but in my case this is a bit different. Thanks. Cheers. Fred.
True or False: The SSD boot drive on an NX-3450 also contains the cassandra metadata.?
Does anyone know how to enable deduplication?I don't see my option in container update in my NX-1420
Dear All , For importing Vm's from the existing vmware envirronment to Nutanix cluster I extracted the below note from Nutanix admin doc. Note: Due to a limitation with VMware vSphere, a temporary name and ip address of a controller VM must be used to mount the Target NFS datastore on both the source host and the target host for this procedure. 1.Could you please help in this what this temporary name and ip mean? the CVM ip addrress of the nutanix host is already configured ,shall i need to modify it ? or keep it as it is? 2. For target host (Nutanix Host) it is clear that it contains CVM but for the current (Not Nutanix Host) there are no CVM. 3.This should be done through adding storage on both hosts .Right? Mount the target NFS datastore on the source host and on the target host (you can mount NFS datastores in vSphere client by clicking Add Storage on the Configuration>Storage screen for a host) [b]so instead of using the CVM ip of the target host (Nutanix Host) in Se
Hello folks, What are the advantages and disadvantages for use of LACP to improve east/west traffic and prevent unnecessary north/south traffic? Are there any documents on it's use for a Nutanix installation? Is the use of LACP very common for Nutanix installations? Are there folks kicking themselves for not implementing LACP. Thank you for your opinions.
