Hi, we have installed a 4 node Nutanix cluster. In the installation process you have to select the cluster redundancy factor, RF2 or RF3. We tried to select RF3 but the system says that you need at least 5 nodes. So we were forced to create the cluster with RF2. In the future we plan to extend the cluster with additional nodes, may be only storage nodes. Will it be possible to upgrade from RF2 to RF3 without having to delete the existing cluster and create a new one? Stefano
I'm fairly certain this is possible, but going is rough for finding it documented. Let's say I have a remote container setup in a NTX cluster in LA. Can I created protection domains in a NTX cluster in Miami and NewYork and point them both to the remote container in LA? Sort of a many to one type approach in using protection domains and any limits on how many you can point at one? Any documentation anyone's found covering this and docs on where the snaps are stored (I don't see them in the ESXi datastores) and how much data is used from remote snaps. Thanks!
Hi all, My present client is making me working on a design implying to deploy a XAAS plateform with a lot of security inside (NSX is on the cook list). In our team, i was declared as the nutanix man. My mission is to determine the best way to isolate storage from diffrent workload :

we'll have an integration zone, a developpement and a production zone as PAAS.
Some node will executed heavy VDI (K2 graphic cards will achieve this),
Then we'll have a IAAS with vcloud SP for the sandbox zone).
So we can imagine some sort of multicluster with 3 cluster dedicated to 3 zones : 3D VDI zone / SANDBOX IAAS zone / and PAAS zone. It implies at least 9 nodes which is a bit too much for starting plateform. My question is, can I make a 6 node cluster for nutanix / storage point, with 3 volumes pools on all 6 node ? and more than that what will it implies in terms of storage performance, data protection, data seggregation (security team will challenge me heavily on
Hi Community, I would like to deploy Prism central to manage 2 clusters. Until now, nothing complex. The issue is : Prism Central is provided as an OVA to be deployed with ESX but I'm using KVM/Acropolis. Is there a way to import it ? Can you please provide me with some guidance ? Thanks a lot.
Hi guys, i'm a potential new Nutanix customer here in Italy ! Actually 43 VM's 6.5TB, 20% CPU average use (6X Xeon 5680 CPU) 400 write/iops average during 24hours and 3000 of peak. The goal is two sites in stretched cluster with sync writes, connected with 2x1Gbs fiber and upgradable to 10Gbs if it is necessary to this project. Actually we have 6 cpu vmware ent. license, 6 cpu Veeam ent.plus license and 6 CPU Microsoft OEM License that i need to rebuy with the new hardware. One key point is the Oracle VM, we've 6 cpu standard one license and Oracle want to license all Vsphere cluster, we discussed with Oracle Italy and with two legals...and that's it! Our partner send me two projects variant: 1) 6 nodes dual socket, 3 per site with 12 Haswell v3 cpu 72 cores in global. 2) 6 nodes single socket, 3 per site with 6 Ivy bridge v2 CPU 60 cores in global. With the number 1 i need to create and buy a dedicated vsphere cluster to run Oracle across 2 of 6 node, I can also use this second cl
I am experimenting with the Protection Domain Cmdlets and trying to use New-NTNXProtectionDomain. I am running into some issues and I hope there is someone around to point me in the right direction. New-NTNXProtectionDomain prints "protectionDomainName cannot be null" when I run it without any parameters, but the parameter protectionDomainName doesn't seem to exist.
