5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
@jlackman yes they are in the protection domain. The problem is that in the Production cluster they are attached via iSCSI by using the Data Services IP in Nutanix. In our DR cluster this is not possible as it is an isolated environment and they cannot access the Data Services IP of the Nutanix DR cluster as it is outside the isolation. So when i try to bring them up out there to test i have to remove the iSCSI check boxes on the VGs and then attach to the VM through Nutanix. This is causing all kinds of issues in getting the Roles to start in the Windows Cluster, SQL services will not start correctly.
I have this up and running using the ISCSI for the Volume Groups, only problem is when bringing it up in our DR environment it cannot access the ISCSI there and I am forced to try and bring it up with just VM Attached in Nutanix. Nothing but issues trying to do that in DR.
Thanks. Will have to open a ticket as they have been removed for a few weeks now and the space has yet to be reclaimed.
I cannot delete the container after deleting the File Server, still says it is system managed. What am i missing?
It says we have 20 licenses, but how do i apply that to the cluster?
That appears to be close to what i am looking for and we currently use Ivanti for patching so that is a good start. The process you linked for Shavlik seems to be something i would have to set inside of a actual patch, i did find a Custom Actions sections inside of the Deployment Templates. It seems like this is what i want as i can set it to "All deployments using this template" - "run before any patches" - "specify a command to execute (254 characters). Now if i knew anything about scripting i could figure this out.
Thank you for the information, it seems we have some issues to go over with our Sales Rep and Account Manager then. We do have a case open for this already. Case Number: 00483485
I think i combined two solutions into one by accident, after reading regarding the Volume Groups my envisioning would just be to the container level for the NFS Datastore to ESXi. Knowing that this does work and if we choose to do it anyways long term, would that void any warranties or support agreements? We were assured by our sales reps and account manager that this was not only doable but supported with our Ultimate License. Is there any configuration to allow our ESXi cluster to utilize Nutanix storage long term?
What option would be supported long term for this solution? We purchased Nutanix because we were assured this was allowed and supported by our Sales Reps. This is what I envinsioned: Nutanix Storage Configuration · Create Storage Container - Vmware_NFS · Create Volume Group - Vmware_NF_VG o Point volume group to Vmware_NFS container o Enable external clients on VG o Add ESXi hosts IP's to Client IP's on VG o Enable Load Balancing on VG · Mount NFS datastore to ESXi Hosts o Name: Nutanix NFS o NFS Server: ***.***.***.*** o NFS Share: /Vmware_NFS_VG o NFS Version: NFS-4
