I figured it out! You can have the same network for both the production and test failover.
ME TOOO!!!!! It isn’t good.
@Alona Correct - we could do everything in Sizer that a Nutanix SE can do. Right now I cannot do anything other than automatic sizing. I did get an email to reach out to at Nutanix to verify I can be added as an advanced user. Thanks!
@rahul.khandalkar the Partner Support fixed my issue!!! I was added as an advanced user.
Alona -We bare metal imaged the nodes to AHV with the correct IPs (not forming a cluster) and everything worked fine. One issue I saw was the foundation process was not running after these were removed from the old cluster. I was able to walk the customer through the foundation process using the Windows stand alone software and everything was good to go after that. We could do pings with no issues when the nodes had ESX on them, but without foundation running, I’m guessing they wouldn’t be discovered by the new cluster. Thanks!
@Michael.Manuele so we can do a normal cluster expansion with no pre-configuration? I found an article for an old AOS version that you can’t use the cluster expansion option in Prism if you have RDMA nodes - you need to use “add node”? Which I’m not sure what that even means. They are not utilizing RDMA yet, but we need to have the capability available for future. Thanks so much for your reply!
@bcaballero THANK YOU!!! Because I do not want to disrupt the current nodes already configured properly, I’m doing this all command line and NOT using the Element GUI. I tested all the commands on my AHV test cluster and I have all the steps down. Thanks for your response!Melissa
