5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
rereading through the docs reminded me of the address-list option to remote-site command used for replication.. Normally you would use this parameter for the CVM-IP-addresses, but the docs also talk about an theoretical (VPN) tunnel address. to me this looks like you would - at least from a technical point of view - be able to add a second vnic to the CVM (in a different vlan, (un)tagged by ESXi vSwitch), and use that IP for replication traffic. (check if cerebro service is listening on 0.0.0.0 or if it is interface bound) if that works nutanix will possibly support it. I'm still wondering about then "tunnel" comment in the docs.
Hi shuguet, putting the HV/ESXi mgmt traffic on a seperate VLAN should be no problem (its even mentioned in the install guide) as for the "Nutanix Cluster Administration" and the "replication traffic" i don't see it supported currently. Why? If doing the VLAN-Splitup on the Hypervisor(vSwitch)-Level, you would need a 3rd/4th vNIC in your CVM (to configure the additional IPs for the additional networks) Which would be of course no problem for the Linux the CVM runs in, but i can't see any configuration support for the different Nutanix Services. If you "forward" the vlan tagged traffic inside the CVM, and do the split-up inside the VM, it would still be the same Problem. The only (theoretical) way i see is to configure an openvswitch inside the CVM with 10g-bond-vNICs as uplink (carrying tagged traffic) and a native VLAN of the primrary Nutanix CVM IP residency. In addition there is some "openflow/openvswitch-rule"-magic (here it gets tricky :P) whic
HI shuguet, vSphere 5.5 is officially supported by Nutanix. This is since version 3.5.1, not sure when that was released, but current is 3.5.2 ;-) (3.5.2 was released 2 weeks ago or so..?) Not sure about 5.5u1 but as i undstand Nutanix, they are quite "relaxed" when it comes to support of newer HV-Software-versions. If you are a customer, you should talk to your partner or nutanix contact about an update of the entire platform, as there have been some webconsole enhancements too. Not to forget: bugs have been fixed too (not that there were any .. ;) )
thanks for your answer, but i believe you answered the wrong thread ;)
as jerome said, cluster_init.html should redirect to cluster_status.html (once the node you are connecting to is part of a cluster)
- First, make sure, you are following the guidelines in the "Setup Guide".(enable IPv6 if disabled on your host, IPv6 link-local enabled)- Make sure, the node interfaces you are about to use have a link, and are in the same vlan than your host- the name resolution works "automatically" thanks to the "bonjour" protocol. MacOS: enabled per default -> check Windows: install iTunes/bonjour Linux: install avahi (distribution-specific)if NTNX--NODEID-CVM.local.:2100 is not working:1. try to ping it:ping6 NTNX--NODEID-CVM.local.-> ping6 works => problem is@browser (see below)-> ping6 doesn't work => problem elsewhere => goto 2.2. "test" your own ipv6: Linux/MacOSX: # look up your IP ifconfig | grep inet6 -> if nothing is returned, you do not have ipv6 enabled on the specific interface # ping it ping6 # multicast ping (one packet) ping6 -c1 -I ff02::1
And i thought it was me, not having a mac ;) Which browser are you using? Safari? FF? Chrome? all of `em? Have you tried to connect to the IPv6 address directly, not the name? I think the main problem is that most of us just aren't experienced enough with IPv6, and as soon as the plug&play doesn't work, we are doomed ;) I will post some troubleshooting steps from my history later on.
