5 Essential Tips for Maximizing Your Experience at Nutanix .NEXT for Bloggers
Hi davidvoogd, Can you share a screenshot or the alert information from which you were informed about the limitation on the vdisk - an NCC alert / Prism health alert etc? To determine the vdisk count on the system, $ vdisk_config_printer > vcp.txt $ cat vcp.txt | grep -w vdisk_id | wc -l $ cat abc.txt | grep shell | wc -l AOS 5.6 has a good upper threshold which should be able to handle most, if not all type of the load (in terms of vdisk count). I don't remember the threshold though. Further if you see an anomaly or need further help and has a Support contract, I would suggest you have a support ticket filed for a swift resolution. Hope that helps! Regards, Pradeep Mathew.

Vastsea you can get all the necessary and recommended memory configuration for the AOS 5.5 here @ https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Advanced-Admin-AOS-v55:app-cvm-memory-config-u.html Note: you will need to pick the hardware that you are running your compute and the features to chose the right amount of CVM memory. But NUC MAX memory is 32Gig. if I assign 16Gig to CVM. only 16Gig is available. it is not enough for others VM.
Vastsea, that true. 32 Gig NUC boxes limits the cluster memory and the use cases. Probably you can start with 12 Gig for the CVM (or even try a 8 GB unless the CVM services doesn't juice out). This way you might be able to run a few VM's. We haven't tested the

NCC 3.5.2 is now available on the portal.
Hey stevecharon, unfortunately, this is a false positive that was noticed post the AOS upgrade. This bug is resolved with NCC 3.5.2 and the above alert should then disappear post the upgrade. NCC 3.5.2 is not released yet on the portal and should be available soon. Hope that helps! Jadon I must say, most likely the surge in the memory usage is due to the additional tasks/jobs such as upgrade/ register/ un-register cluster etc. which has to poll a lot of information/stats from the PE. And insights_DB does a lot of data writing during this process. So yeah!
Jadon - You are welcome! Setting a VM on the flash disk should serve the IO faster as we are pinning the disk onto the SSD. But I would leave this to you to prioritize over the other production VM's. Yeah, most likely, on the memory usage + more features with more memory requirement :). With regards to shutting down a PC VM, you can connect to the PC IP address via the SSH and execute the below command which should gracefully stop the service and restart the PC VM. Once the PC VM is up, you would generally need to wait for about 5-10 minutes for the service to be ready and the console to working. 'cvm_shutdown -r now' Share us your feedback on the PC scale out, will be glad to hear!! Good weekend!!
Jadon hey, Yes, from 5.5, the ability to update the PC VM from the PE has been disabled. You should though get the option to update the PC from the PC Prism page where you can explore the VM's. To ensure, the PC is configured with the needed memory based on the VM entities, please run the below NCC check on the cluster, 'ncc health_checks system_checks pc_memory_availability_check' If you see a 'FAIL', the PC VM needs to be up-scaled. We would recommend the PC - Scale out feature which is introduced in 5.6 which would take care of the capacity and resiliency. Please find the documentation here, https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Prism-Central-Guide-Prism-v56:mul-pc-scale-out-t.html If the above cannot be considered, then, we will need to bump up the PC memory based on the demand in 5.5.x. Hope that helps!
Hey, Starting from AOS 5.5, you might receive the following alert with a warning if you are using any third party clients such as Rubrik to authenticate REST API calls using the admin user. Impact :Admin user will be disabled in a forthcoming release. REST API calls from the admin user will stop working. Cause :An external client is configured to authenticate to the REST API with the admin user. Resolution: Authenticate to the REST API with a different user that has administrative privileges. You may want to check the IP address which is trying to 'authenticate via the admin user' to figure out the application/ source. To resolve this warning, create another user and use that user to authenticate to the REST API. Perform the following procedure to add a user by using the Prism web console on AOS 5.5: https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v55:wc-user-management-wc-c.html Let us know if that helpful?
