Connecting Cloud Innovators: Building Community at .NEXT 2024
I connect PC to active directory with LDAPS and use it with Administration -> Project and Roles.I assign roles to projects and projects to active directory groups and assign the project to VM’s with “manage ownership” on the VM.You can also go to the Administration → Roles page, select a role and go “Manage Assignment”.
Never mind, upgraded to Nutanix Move 3.6.2 and that solved the issue.
This is planned for only AHV clusters. The image managment in PC only support AHV. The template sits on a AHV cluster. I seen the “acli image.create" command on the CVM but this would only create the image on the local PE right? How would you suggest this image is added to the image management on PC?
We have deployed Solarwinds as our global monitoring tool of ALL devices in our global network. So we really want monitoring of AHV hosts from that platform. It is our “all in one tool” for monitoring, notifications, statistics and reporting. I actually hoped that the SNMP configuration used in PE actually also pushed it out to the AHV hosts and not only the VM’s, but it did not. Looking on the active services/processes on the AHV it seems SNMP is not used so I guess it would be pretty straight forward to enable this (install the net-snmp package). I realize that it is maybe not supported as it potentially could break things but perhaps something that can be added in the future?
After setting up and destroying several clusters during tests with different version, hypervisors and hardware but with identical PE names, I came to a point when PC knew about 3 PE that did not exist anymore. PC was naggning me with alerts that it could not communicate with the the deleted PE anymore but gave me no PE uuid, just an IP number of the PE. This was a little tricky to solve since all procedures basically require you to know the deleted cluster uuid. Reading the KB 4944 looking on “Scenario 4” tells me to run “ncli multicluster get-cluster-state” on the PC, but that only gets me a list of active PE registered with the PC so what does that help? Am I missing something? What I ended up doing was to take a new PE not yet in use but registered in PC, use the “ncli multicluster remove-from-multicluster external-ip-address-or-svm-ips=pcname-or-ip username=pc-username password=pc-password force=true” command on the PE and then use “python /home/nutanix/bin/unregistration_cleanup.p
Have successfully added CVM’s and ESXi hosts with SNMPv3 monitoring in Solarwinds but how about monitoring the AHV hosts? I have not really seen any guide for this.
