Hi, we are getting 100’s of copies of a simple PC report (a clone of one of the built in reports). It seems after time change on Sunday AM the reports w/ schedules seem to trigger an hour earlier than they should. So they then run over and over until the time actually triggers.

For example:

Daily Report scheduled for 7am, runs at 6am (over and over - 718 times last count) until 7am (it runs over a bit, eg. 7:05am which I assume is just it catching up w/ the que).

I have deleted the reports, created brand new ones, setup new schedules, checked time on PC CVM (is correct). Tried to restart services/cluster stop/reboot, etc. Even tried updating PC to 2021.1.0.1 (which fixed a PDF reporting issue we had, but not this one).

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi JesseB,

I found some internal information on this and you have done everything right and beyond it. You have re-created the schedule and even the report. I’ll include the steps below just in case. But if you think you have done all that and it still doesn’t work could you please open a case with Nutanix Support?

Remove the schedule

  1. Edit the report.

  2. In the upper left corner click ‘Edit Schedule’.

  3. At the bottom of the popup click the option to remove the schedule.

  4. Save the Report Config. This will stop the report generation from continuing.

Set up a Schedule with Playbooks

  1. Go to Operations > Playbooks from the hamburger menu.

  2. Select Create Playbook.

  3. You must first set a trigger - in this case, set a Time Trigger.

  4. From the time trigger customization screen - change the radio button to configure a schedule at a recurring interval.

  5. Fill in the rest of the details to match the desired schedule frequency.

  6. Now you need to add the actions. Click Add action on the left-hand side.

  7. Search for Generate Report and click the Select button to add the Generate report action

  8. Choose the report config you would like to configure the schedule for and fill out any of the details you would like for how this report is generated.

  9. Now add one more action and search for the Email action.

  10. Fill in the details of the email action and be sure to add the report into the attachment field (click the dropdown and you should see the option to add it).

  11. Hit save and close. Be sure to click the enabled toggle to enable the Playbook.

Thanks for the reply and good to know I'm doing the right stuff! Ill try out the Playbook (which is a very cool thing - not sure how we’ve had this for a year and a half and I didn’t know it existed… Opened up a whole new world!).

One thing i noticed that strikes me as odd and maybe related is even on the playbook, there isn’t a Pacific Daylight Time -7 option, just a PST -8 and a Mountain Std Time -7. That seems not right to me… -7 is the right time modifier for us right now so I selected Mountain time, but I wonder if this isnt the issue right here. PC isnt aware of PDT (or is partially aware, like at the OS level but not the app level if that makes sense)... ?

I’ll open a ticket if this doesn't work I guess, unless you or anyone else has other thoughts. Dont feel like this is “doing it wrong” thing def seem more like a bug of some sort to me.

It does look like using Playbooks to run/email the report will work! Not sure how the time change in the fall (back to PST) will affect this, but that's a problem for another day.

Thanks for the work-around!
