Hey Guys,

I am new to Nutanix and I have deployment coming soon.

The scenario is the customer environment has NX-1065-G7 with 3 nodes in a block and is planning to add NX-1165N-G8. The question is since current environment is G7 and new node is G8, will having different gen nodes in the same block support the existing customer environment  ? and also can anyone please share NX-1165N-G8 documentation since I am not finding in the nutanix portal

Hello Anandu,

G7 and G8 can't be mixed in the same chassis or block, but of course can be mixed in the same cluster.

For 1165N-G8 document please find the links below:

With the addition of a new node, will the cluster support 1G switch? Currently we are using 2 HPE 1950 switches

It’s recommended to use 10G switch

But I referred this article

PHYSICAL SWITCHES for Nutanix/HCI – Mastering Nutanix

If you check the characteristics of DC switch last point it says limit nutanix cluster 1Gbps to eight nodes

As I said it’s recommended to use 10G switch, however find below AHV Networking best practices:

One more question: Does the G8 come with in-built version ?

Only in-side USA

What does that mean?

What does that mean?

The only nodes imaged by AOS,CVM and AHV are NX where shipped inside USA, outside USA nodes come with DiscoverOS only, that's for NX nodes.

For OEM Appliances like HPE , DELL , LENOVO may shipped with Factory Image (ESXi or HyperV)

What version of prism element is supported for G8?

What version of prism element is supported for G8?

Prism Element is inside CVM, it's built in AOS, so what's supported hardware with AOS version the prism Element will be too.

If you mean Prism Central, the compatibility related too for AOS version not Hardware.

You could use AOS 5.20.4.6 for NX-1165N-G8 and use Prism Central 2022.6
