Hi; I have an ubuntu server on vmware and i want to migrate it to AHV with Move. when i type "uname -a" output is: Linux TKMAPP1 4.2.0-42-generic #49~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 29 20:22:11 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux when i type "grep -i virtio /boot/config-`uname -r`" output is: CONFIG_NET_9P_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_BLK=y CONFIG_SCSI_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_NET=y CONFIG_CAIF_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_CONSOLE=y CONFIG_HW_RANDOM_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_DRM_VIRTIO_GPU=m CONFIG_VIRTIO=y # Virtio drivers CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI_LEGACY=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_BALLOON=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_INPUT=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_MMIO=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_MMIO_CMDLINE_DEVICES=y As i see VirtIO drivers are installed. And then when i start to migrate on Move an error pop up is appears: SCSI VirtIO device driver not found. Please download and install the appropriate device driver before retrying the migration. What can i do for this issue ?
You may be familiar with using Nutanix Move to migrate VMs into an AHV cluster, or you may have imported VMs to AHV manually following this method, but what if you want to take your VM out of your AHV cluster to use in a non-Nutanix ESXi cluster, or to deploy on Hyper-V or KVM? Note I said non-Nutanix ESXi cluster. If you have a Nutanix ESXi cluster and an AHV cluster it’s much easier to use Async DR migration since this kind of cross hypervisor DR migration is fully supported from Prism. If you need to export your VM from AHV to another hypervisor there is a documented procedure provided. Here we will be using the articles “AHV | How to access VM disk files on Nutanix container” and “AHV | How to migrate user VMs from AHV to Hyper-V/VMware ESXi/KVM”. The first article covers reviewing your VM configuration from ACLI to identify the VM disks which are named by their UUID, and then how to collect those files using the SFTP protocol on port 2222. The second article describes using th
I was intially told I could use Move to take VMs from old Cluster to New Cluster but alas Move does not move from AHV to AHV, this I find very bizarre as that should be more simple than moving esxi to ahv!So, I have been told to use Data Protection failover - this seems complicated and needs VMs to be stopped and restarted - I came across Live Migration using Leap - ah ha that looks like a good option but still apears complex. Do I really need 2 Prism Central instances? Could I add the second cluster to my exisiting Prism Central then use the Migrate function to move some VMs or is the limitation of different harware still the gotcha?Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this “easily” and “quickly” my boss ain’t a happy man as information from Nutanix has been misleading or downright incorrect.Any help appreciated.

New with Nutanix Move. Deplyed Nutanix Move and need to set IP up. Selecting new Nutanix-Move VM > Console » move login is required, which was not asked to set during MOVE setup. What log-on info needed to be set and where, or is there a standard logon there?
I tryed to run xtract but I'm facing a problem to install the VirtIO tools. Using the automatic script on xtract it's end with the error: "ExitCode: '1603'". If I try to install VirtIO manually the show this message "ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified". I attempted several times to move a test VM over and I am running into a issue with the Mount Container process. Is there a fix for this. I suspect it to be an Firewall issue, Any help would be appreciated.Failed VM Migration: prepare target: [[Location="/hermes/go/src/tgtagent/ahvtargetprovider.go:567", Msg="Error creating target path [Container="default-container-90861820611740", Err="exit status 32", Location="/hermes/go/src/libcloud/prism/ahvmountimpl.go:146"] Container mount failed (error=0x4012)"] Target agent error (error=0x4003)]
I just migrated a VM with Windows 2008 R2 from ESXi 6.0 to AHV but I got blue screen when I turned it on in nutanix cluster. I used move version 3.4.1 somebody knows what happened.

i want to migrate my phyical linux server to Nutanix. is there any native nutanix tool to prform this activity?
Hello all,05 months ago, I faced from some difficulties to perform P2V to AHV for UeFi servers : I performed P2V using VMware Converter to migrate to an ESXi server; and after I used “move” to migrate to AHV. While booting the VM, I saw a black screen and nothing else appeared on the screen. As I said above, it happened 05 months ago; At this time, Nutanix did not support migration of Uefi servers yet.Since the release of AOS5.11 and Move 3.3, Nutanix supports the migration of Uefi servers (As explained in the release notes). So I migrated AOS to the latest version (5.11.1) and used Move 3.3.1 to perform migrations of 03 servers that use Uefi.In spite of that, the VMs displays nothing while booting...even if I wait for several minutes, I get nothing. In PRISM, I switched the boot mode to BIOS and after to Uefi, but I got the same results. In vCenter, I switched the boot mode to BIOS before performing migration. After Migration (using Move 3.3.1), the results are the same. Could you help me
Hi. I’m looking for some experiences in migrating windows user vms from acropolis hypervisor to vmware esxi. I tried and followed severals KBs and articles but none were successful. After powering on windows VM on esxi, they immediately go to the famous “blue screen” and don’t recognize the disk. Articles that I followed: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA032000000PMcKCAWhttps://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA03200000098T7CAIhttps://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Prism-Central-Guide-Prism-v5_19:mul-vm-export-as-ova-pc-t.htmlhttps://next.nutanix.com/move-application-migration-19/want-to-export-a-vm-from-ahv-here-s-how-37275Has anyone has experience with this ? How to migrate ESX VM with independent disks and PCIE to AHV
We have a couple production SQL servers on our ESXi Cluster that need be transitioned to our new Nutanix Cluster. Nutanix Best Practices indicates that the SQL servers should be created new on the Nutanix Cluster instead of doing a VM move from ESXi to AHV. I am aware that Nutanix had Xtract Db for awhile that was supposed to make moving a SQL instance possible but they have since discontinued the product. I must assume they had issues with it. My question is what are the technical implications of using Nutanix Move to "move" the SQL VM from ESXi to AHV? I have used the tool to move a number of non-SQL VMs without any issues. Knowing that the underlying Hyper-visor components are changing and the VirtIO drivers must be installed before the move and then NGT installed after the move, what might the issue be that discourages or prevents a SQL VM cross-hyper-visor move? The SQL version is 2016 Standard with no mirroring or Always on Availability. Just standalone SQL. We hav
Hi, I am new in Nutanix Move can anyone help me to deploy it in PrismElement using QCOW2 disk file. Also I don’t have that disk file, please help to create it.
Have anyone seen this one? The migration readiness on Nutanix Move shows ‘Authentication failed’, yet the details of the error are as follows:Failed to execute guest command: 'C:\Windows\TEMP\vmware74\LoadUserProfile.exe' ExitCode: '1326'I had tried looking all over Nutanix and the web without results.I am trying to move a Windows server 2012 (64-bit) machine from ESXi 6.0.0 to a brand-new Nutanix installation with Move 4.8.0. Any help will be highly appreciated!
Nutanix Move (a.k.a Move) is a cross-hypervisor mobility solution to move VMs with minimal downtime. Move supports migration from the following sources to targets, with first platform being the source and second platform being the target.VMware ESXi to Nutanix AHV VMware ESXi on legacy infrastructure to VMware ESXi on Nutanix Microsoft Hyper-V to Nutanix AHV AWS EC2 to Nutanix AHV AWS EC2 to VMware ESXi on Nutanix Nutanix AHV to AWS EC2Since infrastructure underneath platform is different, a small downtime is incurred during cutover from any of the preceding sources to targets. If this sounds Interesting, but you have a lot queries about this Amazing Solution i.e. NUTANIX MOVE.Relax…!!Here is link to answer most of your queries – Move FAQsFor more details refer to Move User Guide
Hello evryone, I want to migrate a Linux VM from VMWare ESXI infrastructure to AHV infrastructure. I use Xtract for do this. Hi This is my first blog entry and therefore I would like to introduce myself briefly. My name is Omero Muscio, I have been working at Amanox Solutions in Switzerland as Presales Engineer for a little more than half a year. This means that I mainly take care of the customers' technical concerns, create sizings, carry out PoCs and go to the customer to carry out post-sales activities. How-To Cancel Stuck Move Migration Plan: With Nutanix Move 3.3.1, we had the error twice at our customer's site that the migration plan did not fail after manual abort, but hung up. With the help of Nutanix Support, we were able to quickly find a solution to this problem. Log in to the AHV VM via SSH or in the console. Username: admin PW: nutanix/4u enter rs,this is similar to sudo or su From now on you are logged in as root@move. Now we connect to the Postgre database: postgres-shell to open the PG-Shell psql -d datamover to get into the corresponding PSQL shell With the help of the command select mpuui
Hi Guys I am trying move a VM from my ESXi Environment to my AHV ENvironment using Nutanix Move. I am able to add the source, but it doesnt pick up any VMs and when i run a refresh i get the following error: Failed to get inventory for source(ESXi Name). Please assist
My migration team is doing a good job trying to push as many VM’s through Move to stage reboots after-hours. I’ve noticed that replication slows way down when we have about 15-20 VM’s waiting for cutover. I have checked the load on the Move VM and increased the amount of CPUs. Replication goes well (25Gbit network), but now we only have 2 seed streams going with 19 waiting to cutover. I have 4 other VM’s that are in the “seeding data” phase, but haven’t started their copies. Is this a bottleneck within the Move postgres database? Any ideas on how I can get more VM’s copying in parallel? Thanks,
Is there a document that guides on how to use Move migration via command line interface? I know that there is a web GUI tool. But, I am wondering if there is another way thru CLI.
