Hi All

I have been asked by my dev team for Windows NLB to be enabled, I have had problems with this in a VMware environment, are there any gotchas, alternatives or tips to get this to work?

Many thanks

Hi @Eric-The_Viking

Can you confirm that you are using VMware vSphere ESXi hypervisor? If yes, you should refer to the VMware documentation on how to configure Windows NLB and a good start point is the following KB: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1006580

If you are using the Nutanix AHV hypervisor instead of VMware vSphere ESXi, please let me know and I can give you additional information about NLB and AHV.

Hi @Eric-The_Viking

I sent the VMware link because in your original post you mentioned that have problem with VMware environment, but since now you confirmed that you also need help for AHV, please open a support ticket and we can check your current setup and provide you the recommended configuration/setup.

Hi, I will have to request via Dell as I am not allowed direct access to Nutanix support as I am using Dell hardware. Many thanks

Hi @Eric-The_Viking

OK Eric, you are welcome and don't forget to provide all details including version of AOS and full NCC health check, since that can speed up the resolution.

Currently got the same call in with support. According to this:
https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/netgeeks/2017/07/13/the-nlb-deployment-reference-all-you-need-to-know-to-implement-and-deploy-microsoft-network-load-balancing/

Static ARP on the switches is the solution.

Assuming of course, your switches support it....
