Good Afternoon,

We are in the process of migrating some of our servers from ESXi to AHV. Some of these servers are SQL servers, I was wondering if we can simnply use the migration tool we use for our regular servers or do we have to use the specific SQ: migration tool? We would prefer to use the regular migration tool since the SQL migration tool requires us to make security changes.

Thanks,

Hi adminljd

Are you referring to Nutanix Xtract? You could use either Xtract for VMs or Xtract for DBs. Sounds like you'd prefer the VM route which is perfectly fine so long as the VMs meet Xtract requirements. Check out requirements and unsupported features here: https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Xtract-for-VMs-v10:Xtract-for-VMs-v10

Thanks,
Mike

Awesome thank you very much. I just wanted to make sure it wouldnt break my DBs if I used the regular Xtract instead of the DB instract.

Sounds good. I would just double check if they're clustered with shared storage. I don't believe physical RDMs are supported with Xtract for VMs.
