I am trying to install ubuntu server 20.04 LTS but everytime I reach the point where to set the profile (name, username and password etc...), I get an error “Sorry, there was a problem completing the installation”…

I have downloaded the ISO file from Ubuntu, and my VM settings are:

CPU = 1

Core or. CPU = 2

Memory = 4

Cd-rom = ide.0

Disk = scsi.0 and 100 GiB

Please advice how I can fix this, and install my Ubuntu server 20.04 LTS

Hi Chaitrali,

Thx a lot for your great response. However, I found another workaround, which was to upgrade an existing 18.04 version.

When I have the need to do a fresh installation again, I will refer to the articles mentioned in your reply.

best regards

Allan

re-check the installation ISO, just encounter that issue today… and just re-download the ISO...

If you have internet connectivity, you can select to download the upgraded installation program and with it, installation goes fine.

What is the other way than upgrading an existing 18.04. I would like to install a fresh ubuntu-20.04.1-live-server-amd64 on a VM? I get the same Error using the Community Edition im my Home Lab.

Choosing SATA type for the guest disk solves this problem. Something to do with SCSI disk type.
