Discovery failed

Hi,

I'm trying to setup three nodes on Lenovo HX, but the Java applet is unable to discover the nodes.

The servers are hooked to Lenovo G8124, ports are configured as trunk with native vlan set to the Host/CVM vlan (they are on the same vlan).I tried setting up the network with "nutanix-network-crashcart" on one of the nodes and the opened the X.X.X.X:8000/gui page, but foundation is not able to discover the other nodes, only itself.

Ping to IPv6 link-local addresses of all hosts and CVM from my workstation works perfectly, it also works between nodes and cvm.

Any ideas?

sks as for HX and XC series you need to connect both 1 GB and 10 GB port. retry the Java applet or try with standalone Foundation

Are the 10Gb ports plugged in? The Lenovo servers had a requirement to do the foundation through the 10Gb port rather than using the 1Gb embedded ports.

Yes, they are plugged in, the 1Gb interfaces are not

It sounds like you have everything setup correctly. I have done foundation using both the foundation VM and the java applet on our Lenovo cluster and it works fine. The applet even worked without a native vlan. You might try downloading the Foundation VM and going that route. If all else fails, contact Lenovo for Nutanix support.

I connected the 1Gb NIC and it worked. Here's what I did for reference

- connected the 1Gb NIC and added them to the existing bond and rebooted the servers.
- configured one of the server using crashcart tool
- run discovery and all servers showed up
- When the cluster was up and running, I removed the 1Gb from the bond.

NB: Neither the applet nor the Foundation VM were able to discover the nodes even after adding the 1Gb NIC, which is strange, only connecting to foundation on the CVM worked.

sks glad you made it
what does it mean by "only connecting to foundation on the CVM worked" ?

@bezzedin thanks,it means connecting to http://cvm_ip:8000/guiapplet and foundation vm were not able to discover the nodes
Then it seems the node and your workstation which is used to discover the nodes are in different broadcast domain.
