Need help to change the IP address , Subnet mask and gateway of CVM, IPMI, ESXi Hosts and vCenter

AOS  5.0.4
ESXi  5.5.0 Build number - 1331820
ncc 3.1.2
vcenter 5.5.0 Build number - 2442329
total number of nodes : 5

1) what is the Order to change the IP address, subnet mask and gateway of 5 CVM, 5 ESXi Hosts, 5 - IPMI, 1 - vCenter
2) do i need to stop the cluster for CVM  - IP, subnet mask and gateway change?
3) do i need to stop the cluster for ESxi Hosts -  IP, subnet mask and gateway change?
4) is there any workaround to update the CVM - IP address, subnet mask and gateway without stopping the cluster
5) reason for stopping the cluster while changing the IP address, subnet mask, gateway
6) does this AOS version will support CVM and ESXi IP change
7) what has to be check before and after IP address, Subnet mask, gateway change of CVM, ESXi, IPMI and vCenter
8) What is the Procedure of changing the CVM IP address, Subnet mask and gateway (AOS 5.0.4/Esxi 5.5.0)
9) What is the Procedure of changing the Esxi Hosts IP address, Subnet mask and gateway (AOS 5.0.4/Esxi 5.5.0)
10) What is the Procedure of changing the IPMI IP address, Subnet mask and gateway (AOS 5.0.4/Esxi 5.5.0)
11) What is the Procedure of changing the vCenter IP address, Subnet mask and gateway (AOS 5.0.4/Esxi 5.5.0)
12) do you need any other information

See below responses to your questions.

1) what is the Order to change the IP address, subnet mask and gateway of 5 CVM, 5 ESXi Hosts, 5 - IPMI, 1 - vCenter

-→  It could be CVM, hypervisor, ipmi; and vcenter (which can be considered a user vm if it is in the cluster, this could be first or last, provided the new address is reachable by cluster hypervisors), but since you have to stop the cluster this may not matter much for this AOS release as the changes are going to be manual.

2) do i need to stop the cluster for CVM  - IP, subnet mask and gateway change?

3) do i need to stop the cluster for ESxi Hosts -  IP, subnet mask and gateway change?

→ The IP change operation requires stopping of the cluster (cluster stop), so you need a maintenance window.

4) is there any workaround to update the CVM - IP address, subnet mask and gateway without stopping the cluster

-→ no

5) reason for stopping the cluster while changing the IP address, subnet mask, gateway

-→ cluster configuration files need to be re-read after the change and that requires cluster start

6) does this AOS version will support CVM and ESXi IP change

→ Yes, this AOS version requires manually upgrading the information in the files, the newer ones can use available script in the cvm to perform the file manipulation part

7) what has to be check before and after IP address, Subnet mask, gateway change of CVM, ESXi, IPMI and vCenter

→ Ensure that the cluster NTP and DNS servers are reachable from the new Controller VM addresses. If different NTP and DNS servers are to be used, remove the existing NTP and DNS servers from the cluster configuration and add the new ones. If the new addresses are not known, remove the existing NTP and DNS servers before cluster reconfiguration and add the new ones afterwards.

Also,  log on to a Controller VM in the cluster and check that all hosts are part of the metadata store.

→-  There is internal document to change the CVM ip/netmask/gateway for AOS 5.0.X  you will need to open support cases so some one assist you performing the change

10) What is the Procedure of changing the IPMI IP address, Subnet mask and gateway (AOS 5.0.4/Esxi 5.5.0)

-→  You can follow the link:

https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/kbs/details?targetId=kA0600000008db6CAA

the section on LAN configuration.

For AHV clusters, just drop the “/”  the commands in the KB link above.

11) What is the Procedure of changing the vCenter IP address, Subnet mask and gateway (AOS 5.0.4/Esxi 5.5.0)

You need to follow the VMWare instructions to change vCenter IP address.

12) do you need any other information

-→ If the IP address change need to happen, you need to open a case with our support team for assistance.

Let me know if any follow up or further concerns,

Regards,
