Hello,

I’m testing Nutanix-CE on a VMware 6.7 ESXi.

I downloaded the image file, and created the VM as described on Internet tutorials, and it’s installed correctly. But when i try to ping/ssh/open the https://CVM_IP:9440 i get nothing..

My configuration:

  • vCPU: 12
  • Memory: 32G
  • 2 disks: 200G (thin provisioning)

When i try to run locally:

  • virsh list --all

I find no virtual machine running..

I would like to know, what i should do or make to get this running correctly?

Thank you in advance,

Hello!

Check this guide how to install CE on ESXi. https://vmik.net/2021/01/26/nutanix-ce-install-esxi-2021/

It’s in Russian, but you can translate with google

I faced a similar issue, as follows - Nutanix CE 2.0 on VMware Workstation 17 pro on a WIndows machine.

  1. Able to ping hypervisor from my host.
  2. Unable to ping host from the hypervisor.
  3. Unable to ping CVM.

I turned the windows firewall off, and everything works well.

Let me know if this helps.

Your VM is not according the requirements.,

To run CE you need at least: 3 disks (boot, cvm and data).

More info here: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Nutanix-Community-Edition-Getting-Started:top-sysreqs-ce-r.html

Thanks for your pointers Jeroen.

Aim - To install Nutanix CE 2.0 as a single node on VMware workstation 17 pro, to demonstrate Prism to customers.

What I have done  - My laptop has 32GB of memory and sufficient disk space. I created 3 disks each of 200,250 and 300GB. I found the reason to the problem with the “ping issue.

After I have created the cluster using the command -

cluster --cluster_funtion _list="one_node_cluster" --svm _ips (of my CVM) create

The single node cluster is successful.

However when I try to reach Prism I get a message as follows -

“you cannot visit 192.168.x.y (CVM IP address) right now because the web site sent scrambled credentials that Chrome cannot process.

Is the process of installing a single node this cumbersome?

Appreciate your support.

An update to my previous message -

When trying to access the Prism, as mentioned earlier I get a long message about the site not being trustworthy etc. The error I get is “NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID”

However the certificate is a valid one. Tried the following -

  1. Flushed my DNS.
  2. Stopped all extensions in Chrome.
  3. I had recently upgraded my Chrome.
  4. CLeared my SSL cache.
  5. Tried icognito mode

I still am unable to open the Prism.

Some frustration is settling in……….
