I’m trying to setup a new bridge (br1).

After ssh to the Nutanix AHV,  I continue with input “ssh root@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” to get to the CVM,  it ask me for a password.  Is there a way to change/ continue with a different logon name as well at that?

The password I input is being denied due a different username for the CVM.

Dennis,

Please connect to the CVM first. Then you can connect to the AHV host with “ssh root@192.168.5.1”. It should not prompt you for a password. 192.168.5.1 is the special address used for the AHV host’s internal interface connecting it to the CVM. The CVM uses the IP addresses 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.254 on that internal link.
