Recently it appears that our "Automatic Downloads" function is not working anymore. I referenced following link to force immediate download for updates:

http://aakashjacob.blogspot.com/2015/02/nutanix-techtip-2-enable-automatic_6.html

The results of the auto download log output are below:

This is output from a Nutanix CE cluster but it is the same error I see on one of our other full blown Nutanix clusters.

What do the errors mean and what could be causing them? AU used to work before the holidays and there was a Palo Alto FW update done during the holidays. I have worked with the person responsible for the PA and he has tried everthing to allow traffic out from the IPs of the CVM(s) and still no luck.

Any input would be appreciated...

Both AOS 5.0 and the CE equivalent have not been posted to the automatic downloads mechanism on our side yet.

Manual downloads are posted in their respective locations (portal.nutanix.com and CE forum, respectively)

We do that by design. Usually automatic downloads for any major release are enabled 30-60 days after their release.

Jon,

We are currently on 4.7.3.1. So shouldn't I at least see 4.7.3.2 and/or 4.7.3.3 as available updates?

I dont believe those hot fixes are posted to the automatic download system, but let me ask.

Straight from the source:

One-Click wont be enabled for 4.7.3.2 and later patch releases-as the fixes are limited, so Customers that do need these fixes will have to manually download the bits from our portal. One click will be enabled when 4.7.4 Maintenance release is out

Jon,

Thanks for the response. It answers the question about why they are not in the UI. What doesn't make sense is the log output. The failure messages almost indicates a network connectivity issue rather than no updates are available. If the messages were "no upgrades available" that would make more sense.

We're on the same page. Admittedly, backend logging doesn't always get the best wax and polish it should have, so I filed internal engineering ticket "ENG-74498 Polish automatic_download_support logging to be more friendly" just now
