if you are trying to set โEnhanced vMotion capabilitiesโ (EVC) on a running cluster, you may see a pop up Error Window saying: โโฆ Powered-on or suspended Virtual machines on the host may be using cpu feature hidden by that modeโ You can create a new cluster in vSphere and set the EVC on it first with no hypervisor, and then move the nodes and Vms from the old cluster to the new cluster. Please follow the link โUnable to Set Enhanced vMotion Capability (EVC) on a Newly-created Clusterโ for detailed instructions.

Hi guys, I'm somewhat new to Nutanix and I was curious if there was a powershell command that will allow you to set the project for a VM. Essentially I want to use scripts to deploy VM's and then when the VM is deployed move it into a project so we can track resources. The deployment part of this is easy enough, but nothing in powershell seems to indicate it can even do this. Is this something that can even be done? I really like the powershell integration, and I really like the SSP Prism Central and Projects. I'd really really like to be able to use both of these together. Thanks
Hello, What are the pros and cons of these two series? What workloads are better suited to which series? Why would you choose an 8k block over a 3k block and conversely? Thanks

Hi. I am fairly new to scripting especially with Nutanix. I can do Powershell scripting just fine but making the conversion to shell scripts has my brain in a knot. I have some acli commands to create a new vm, create a new Disk and a new NIC but I was unsure how to run them as an executable from my Windows desktop. Our cluster is Nutanix AHV. So I run this from a command line to open putty and connect. It works fine without the script. putty.exe -ssh admin@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -pw ****** -m "C:\newVM.sh" The script is: acli; #creates a clone of Server2016 #vm.clone aTest clone_from_vm="Server2016RefImage" memory=8G num_cores_per_vcpu=2 num_vcpus=2; #creates a D drive # vm.disk_create aTest bus=scsi create_size=200G index=1 container="Container-1"; #Add a NIC #vm.nic_create aTest connected=true network="Vlan6"; Each line will run fine if I run it in putty but I am not sure if I am stringing the commands together correctly. If I try to execute the script it opens the putty session the

We are happy to finally say the Nutanix Calm API is live! This includes the release of the Nutanix Calm API documentation on Nutanix.dev, our Developer Portal. The possibilities that are now available along with this announcement are huge for us. It means we can do things like the following in code: Integrate the control of Calm blueprints into external scripts or applications Use conditionals to control when a blueprint gets launched Use conditionals to control which blueprint gets launched Run applications actions on demand by calling the appropriate API Itโs also true that, while APIs as an overall โthingโ are definitely nothing new, the ability to automate the automation platform is a critical step in controlling infrastructure. Check out the blog ๐ Automate Everything: Nutanix Calm API Docs Are Live! to learn more
Why am I not able to view API v2.0 in the "Rest explorer live" in the console? Also, why does I get an unauthorized error when I use v2 with basic_auth when v3 works fine with the same authentication?
After having the CVMs down for some cluster maintenance \ VLAN ID changes, everything is back up but after running an NCC check the first check, CVM reboot check, failed. Is this something to be concerned about? What is actually being checked with this?
How to list Prism Central servers that belongs only to certain project. For example list only those Vm's that belongs to project "default". "Powerstate" expression name is "powerstate" but what is corresponding name of "project" which I should use to call "project" name? This script is showing vmname and powerstate (runned against Prism Central): Get-NTNXVM | Select @{Expression={$_.vmname};Label=โVMNameโ},@{Expression={$_.powerstate};Label=โPowerStateโ}
Dear Friends, I am trying to find out VMs to Storage Container relations using Nutanix REST APIs but not able to get. I have tried both V2.0 and V3 APIs. In 'vms/list' v3 API, we do get "disk_list" for each VM but I do not see these vDisks in 'vdisk' or virtual_disks APIs (v2). Also there is no reference to Storage_Containers in 'vms/list' output so it is difficult for me to find the correlation. Please help.
Can you use a FC card in one node of a Nutanix cluster to do a storage Vmotion / migration to the New esxi Hosts in the cluster ? FC card will present the current VMFS partition to the new esxi host running in the cluster .Then storage vmotion the vm's across to the new storage( NFS partition in the nutanix cluster ) Is this possible ? Prefered option as NFS would only be on a 1 gig network and we need to do this quickly Any input will be appreciated ?
Hey guys,I don't have Nutanix and I want to practice on Nutanix - is there virtual image I can use for practice?
Hello, I will need to power off a "Metro Standby Site", which has VMs running on it. I would like to manually migrate those VMs to the primary (active) site and Shut down / Power Off the nodes in the Standby site approx. 24-36 hours. All VMs need to be running on the active side and no VMs are to be restarted (RTO + RPO =0). The steps I propose to take to achieve the goal are as follows: I have included as much environment info as possible. Any insight or corrections to this process are welcome. Thanks in Advance Phase I (Configure Standby Site) Disable/suspend the (x1) asynch PD (from Primary) Update VMware DRS Rules (Manual) (from Primary) Disable HA Manually perform vMotion of all VMs to active site. Configured VM affinities to the hosts of the primary site and set the DRS rules to Fully Automated. Create new VMGroup and Host Group if needed I do not want to disable DRS and lose my DRS Affinity Rules Disable Metro per PD (x3) (from Primary) Phase II (Power Off
Using PowerShell and AOS 5.11 and same version cmdlets... I have an AHV VM in the object $VM that I retrieved from Prism Central. I'm trying to retrieve the NIC information but I keep getting an error: PS E:\Scripts> get-ntnxvmnic -vmid $vm.uuid -IncludeAddressAssignments Error occurred while getting NIC list of VM get-ntnxvmnic : The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. There appears to be an issue with the latest Powershell Cmdlets for Version 5.11 that reports itself as Version 5.1.1 (not 5.11) so there is a mismatch. This will bring up a Warning dialogue box asking you if you want to continue with this mismatch (Cluster Version 5.11 and CmdLets Version 5.1.1). This can affect any Powershell Automation Scripts you have running that will be waiting for user intervention! You can change the Nutanix Connection method to Force the Connection using the following syntax: Connect-NTNXCluster -Server "Your server here" -UserName "Your user" -Password "Your password" -AcceptInvalidSSLCerts -ForcedConnection Note: It is the ForcedConnection that enables the bypass of the mismatch for your scripts. Hopefully they will update the Version with the next iteration of the Cmdlets without the apparent typo of 5.1.1 instead of 5.11. Please feel free to "Like" to mark as "Best Answer" Kind Regards Andy @andymlloyd
Starting now, the Nutanix Developer Portal will have something new. In addition to our blog, API reference and code samples, weโre going to publish an ever-expanding collection of hands-on labs.
