Hi,
I would like to know if an AFS applicance can offer
1. NFS v3, NFS v4 exports
2. CIFS 2, CIFS 3 SMB shares
3. If it can be on the same datas, I means a file writen by a Linux server and read by a Windows workstation.
4. BTW, can the appliance join a Active Directory domain ?
Thank you
MLD

Hi,
Nutanix Acropolis File Services (AFS) currently only supports SMB2.1 and must be joined to AD for access and permissions.
The NFS and SMB3 are anticipated in near future releases.
As concerns about accessing same data from Linux and Windows it is possible as its file services but cannot update the same file simultaneously as it will corrupt it.

Download the technote for more details:

Hi,
Thank you for this answer.
I'm a little surprised about this sentence :
As concerns about accessing same data from Linux and Windows it is possible as its file services but cannot update the same file simultaneously as it will corrupt it.

I was meanning an acces to the same data using NFS and CIFS. At the same time or not. But a lock would be supposed to be set on the NAS from both protocols if needed.

Best regards

Hi,

I am not sure if same data can be accessible by NFS and SMB protocol unless NFS is released in the upcoming release.
