Just a quick question of a newbie... I am running AOS 5.0.3 and latest stable AHV... Is it possible to increase the RAM and vCPU of a running VM? It is a typical issue in our work and from PRISM I only can add/remove memory and vCPU when the VM is shutdown.

Best regards,

Christian,The hot add of CPU & RAM resources is a CLI only tech-preview feature in 5.0. You will need to SSH into the CVM and run ACLI commands.

  • Update the number of CPUs on the VM.
acli vm.update ‘vm’ num_vcpus=’n’Replace ‘vm’ with the name of the VM and ‘n’ with the number of CPUs.
  • Update the memory allocation for the VM.
acli vm.update ‘vm’ memory=’new_memory_size’

if the vm's have not been power-cycled between 5.0.x and 5.1.x the command is not working.

Hey, I’m endup with error while adding memory with below command from MikeWronski vm.update ‘vm’ memory=’new_memory_size

Error: unsupported configuration attaching memory devices with size would exceed domains MaxMemory config

AOS5.10.9.1

Guest OS Windows 2012 R2 STD

Current memory is 8G and want to make it 12G

Post AOS,AHV upgrade power cycle was carried out for vm

Any help here
