Third party backup integration is data protection that involves creating snapshot and backup copies via third party backup software.
The requirements for integration changed depending on the backup software being used.

This is a high level overview of the process. It consists of following components

Backup Server

Configuration database (usually deployed within the backup server or within the appliance (depends on the vendor))

Proxy (deployed within the NTNX cluster)

Following Services are involved in creating 3rd party snapshot

Apache Web Service - handles all API calls to and from the backup software

Prism - tracks all API v1 and API v2 calls

Aplos and Aplos Engine - tracks API v3 calls

aplos_engine is responsible for the aplos snapshot (Snap UUID - kind UUID) creation

Ergon - manages all tasks

Cerebro - snapshot creation
