Just installed Xtract VM from Image and am trying to set the IP as static and cannot seem to be able to edit the CentOS file, how do you edit the ifcfg-eth0?

Re: Xtract change IP to Static

Thanks Chandru, I have already deployed the VM and wanted to change from the console per these instructions, just cant find a way to edit the file from the appliance console.

Assigning Static IP address to Xtract

If the DHCP is not enabled, you can assign the static IP address for the Xtract appliance.

Context for the current task

  1. Log into the Prism web console to access the Xtract appliance.
  2. Go to the VM view and select the VM named Xtract-for-VMs.
  3. Log onto the Xtract console.
  4. In the command line, edit the VM.

    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

    1. Update BOOTPROTO="dhcp" to BOOTPROTO="static".
    2. Add IPADDR=”ip_address”.

Replace ip_address with the name of the IP address.

    3. Add NETMASK="net_mask".

Replace net_mask with the net mask ID.

    4. Add GATEWAY=”gateway”.

Replace gateway with the gateway address.

  5. Save the file and restart the VM.

Re: Xtract change IP to Static

@BobSobczak sorry for the confusion. You need to be root to edit the file, you can type rs to drop into root shell and edit the file.

Re: Xtract change IP to Static

I found it easier to start over and create the xtract VM via the CLI, thanks for the help, currently running a migration!
