How to expand lun in volume group

Hi friends

Currently we have one lun inside volume group mounted as iscsi lun in windows server 2012.actually we want to expand the iscsi lun.we triend to add another vdisk to the volume group.so whether the newly added vdisk will appear as another disk or appear as expansion for the iscsi lun in windows server

Today it is an offline expansion, menaing the machine(s) using the VG' need to be turned off or disconnected to do that.

 

We're releasing online expansion in AOS 5.0, which is due out this month, which will work exactly like you'd expect it to, very easy stuff.

can we use below command to expand the disk in volume group without losing the existing data.

 

<acropolis> vg.disk_update my_vg 0 new_size=5G

Today it is an offline expansion, menaing the machine(s) using the VG' need to be turned off or disconnected to do that.

 

We're releasing online expansion in AOS 5.0, which is due out this month, which will work exactly like you'd expect it to, very easy stuff.

Hi Jon ,

 

Thank you very much.We are able to detach iscsi initiator for the volume group containing vdisk and and expand the vdisk using acli command and then attach the iscsi initiator back to the volume group.

Can you pleae share the steps little bit in detail? We have same situation and not in NOS 5.X yet
