Adding RAM or vCPU to VM

Just a quick question of a newbie... I am running AOS 5.0.3 and latest stable AHV... Is it possible to increase the RAM and vCPU of a running VM? It is a typical issue in our work and from PRISM I only can add/remove memory and vCPU when the VM is shutdown.

Best regards,

Christian

Christian,

The hot add of CPU & RAM resources is a CLI only tech-preview feature in 5.0.  You will need to SSH into the CVM and run ACLI commands.

  • Update the number of CPUs on the VM.
acli vm.update ‘vm’ num_vcpus=’n’

Replace ‘vm’ with the name of the VM and ‘n’ with the number of CPUs.

  • Update the memory allocation for the VM.
acli vm.update ‘vm’ memory=’new_memory_size’
